Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

@plasmo, sounds painful and funny by turns. Are you listening to radio?

Re: Night Shift

Hi @plasmo and @Mazarita just woke up. Are you still here?

Hi @Jacques good to hear from you. Sending you my warm wishes.

Hi @Former-Member I was just absent because first I needed to catch some sleep after a long night here and then I had chores to do today and then went out with my neighbour and stayed for tea there, then I had a fairly early night. Hope you are doing ok now.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope As a massage therapist for 25 years I can't tell you how many people I recommended arnica (with or without wintergreen, the heating herb) and/or calendula to. They are fantastic. Glad to hear the fisiocreme is working for you. Hoping it gives you some relief @Kurra. It might be worth talking to a naturopath also about managing the AS. I feel for you, having it.

Hey @eth, yep still here. How's it been since we last met?

Re: Night Shift

@plasmo, what sort of music has been on? Anything you especially like? I'm listening to the sounds of the computer whirring and my fingers on the keyboard, plus a vague ringing in my ears. Otherwise sweetly quiet.

Re: Night Shift

Hey @Mazarita I just edited my post and the answer about my day is there. How was yours? Did you end up getting some good sleep?

Love your ideas about the circus @plasmo

Re: Night Shift

@eth, I've had quite a bit of sleep in a number of blocks while I've been cutting back the tobacco. Feeling tired a lot at the moment. Change of seasons too, I think. Nonetheless I got out to have x-rays on my lower legs and feet today to explore problems there further. After that, support group. Visited friend for take away dinner. Came home and went to bed about 11pm. About 3.5 hours sleep so far this night. Sounds like you had a nice fullish day too.

Re: Night Shift

@plasmo @Mazarita All I can hear here are the fans, the fridge and the occasional dog barking or cricket outside. So peaceful this time of night. And so nice and cool too after another 35 day.

Re: Night Shift

These descriptions of the sounds at our place are making me smile.

@eth, glad it's cooled down for you overnight. I'm in beret and ugg boots again. It was overcast and relatively chilly today and even chillier tonight. Nothing like southern temperatures but still really noticable. It's surprising how rugged up I need to get here at times in winter.
