Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

@Appleblossom sometimes it's good to just nurture and nourish ourselves and it's enough. The hot dogs sound yummy.

Hi @Shaz51 hope your week has been ok. Enjoy the movie.

I'm popping out for a little while to see my neighbour. May catch you both later at the Friday feast.

Re: Night Shift

Yay,

Im back.....wifi has been awful in our area and our television reception even broke down this week.....

There has been lots of complaints.....nothing done though....

Hi @Shaz51... It is hard living on a smaller income isn't it. We live on trying to cook on about $5.00 for a dinner every night and budget budget budget.

Another idea is can you just write your husband's ...jouney.....and either put it on a USB stick or print it out. Somewhere I have a very good health care plan where I'lle find if you want to follow the summery of what to write. It gets very tiring repeating and repeating your story.

hi @eth

Good, good to hear from you.

It's been lovely today here. I bought a cute op shop dress yesterday it's a 50s dress and it was a real treat.

Re: Night Shift

Hiya! @eth...

Things are good here, but my attempts to cut down on caffeine and nicotine have not been going so great. I'm finding I need more and more of the drug. But i guess there are worse things i could be addicted to. The nicotine patches are the most frustrating things in the world! they stick for a little while but then if its hot out and the skin starts to sweat alittle, they come right off. Sooo annoying.

Tomorrow I am going to try to cut down again.

I went to go see the new X men movie, it was really really good..I suggest everyone goes see it.

Today, I am headed to one of the great lakes, and I'm gonna spend the day by the water. Super excited for that.

How are you today?

Re: Night Shift

Hey @PeppiPatty, good to see you! So cool about your dress. I got some op shop clothes last week too. Blue tunic top with delicate, salmon-coloured, paisley design. And capri pants to match. The top especially is my favorite thing to wear now.

@eth, so happy to hear you have the appointments in place now! Nice one on getting out once a day whenever possible.

Re: Night Shift

@PeppiPatty I love 50's dresses. Can't wear them anymore but I used to. I've put on too much weight since being on the meds for bipolar. Glad to hear things are going well for you.

@Tyler77 When I tried to use the nicotine patches I became quite manic and got better as soon as I went off them. Hope they work out for you. The great lakes are so beautiful. I had a few days at one of them when I visited Canada. Have a beautiful day.

Re: Night Shift

@Mazarita The other good thing that happened today was my talk with Mum. She's 75 now and put my number on her medic alert bracelet months ago (after a fall) but hadn't sent me any details of her doctors and specialists. Tonight I managed to get quite a bit of information from her and put some plans in place so that we (I and my siblings) can take action if I ever do get 'the call'. Making this phone call to her was largely prompted by some of the recent sharing on the forums so thanks people for being so willing to share. The situation is complicated by me being in the northern territory and her being in Brisbane so I really needed clear instructions from her. But my sister in Brisbane does not want to be the one to make the decisions and mum has a tricky relationship with my brother so I'm going to step up. Hopefully she won't have a crisis at the same time as me ever, but I'll be keeping my brother in the loop in case of that.
