Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

@Mazarita, well, ever since I said that I went for a smoke of green and now I'm in better spirits, although I'm still not ok. I'm using the rubberband approach to cope.

I don't want to go to the hospital because I've had a lot of bad experiences... For example, the second time I was in, I was in the quiet room for 5 days and the doctor came in, gave me my tablet which was the best thing to happen to me in there, and suddenly he took it away as soon as I unlocked it. He just wanted to friggin' snoop...

Re: Night Shift

@Snuchu, sounds like a weird experience with the doctor and the meds. Glad the weed is calming you down a bit. It can be used medicinally at times, I know. But sounds like you could use more help than that. Is there anything else that has helped you in the past when you've been like this but haven't wanted to go to hospital?

Re: Night Shift

@Mazarita - Well, it's the most I can do without leaving the house. A bath sometimes help, but it helps more when I have RLS. I don't know what else. I cope by being on the computer and playing games, but I've entirely lost interest in gaming. (Yay, anhedonia.)

I so wish this town has a day hospital. 😞

Re: Night Shift

@Snuchu, great that you have a bath (we don't have one in this flat). That sounds like a good idea even now because relaxation is probably helpful to some extent when feeling attacked like that. Could you get one going now? The computer can get pretty taxing sometimes, especially when you are feeling like there is not much pleasure in it. At least it's something different to do...

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Snuchu Hi @Mazarita and anyone else still awake.

I agree with not wanting to go to the hospital. Hospitals suck! Last time I was there I had to wait 6 hours to be seen. Then the time before that, they kept me upstairs for 38! Days! I thought i was gonna grow old and die up there! I Definitly dont want to go back.

From my own expierence: I struggle sometimes with self hate and wanting to self harm, but I realize that in the end its just gonna cause more harm than good. That always helps me stop from doing anything. Unless I am drunk or high, in which case my behavior is usually erratic and unpredicatable. So I'm glad the weed helps you, but for me, weed makes me like 10x worse. The paranoia alone that it induces feels like it is giving me a heart attack.

Re: Night Shift

@Tyler77, So good to hear you so upbeat! Sounds like a good day planned. Are you outside Australia? It's just going on to 5am here and I've been awake for about 90 minutes after sleeping the usual 3 hours. Will get back to it before too long probably but around for a little while longer still. 🙂

Hi @Mazarita @Snuchu @Tyler77

Still up with D3 working on her portfolio (west coast time ...)

Keep dozing off, but she is getting through her work, and I can tell she is enjoying doing it. She dozed on and off all day today while she was sick, so I am trusting she will be okay sleep-wise till after TAFE / school.

Reckon I might be having a nap after the TAFE run in the morning ....
