Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Nothing with caffeine for me at this end of the day @Former-Member. But I do love those twinings fruit teas - cranberry and pomegranate is my current fave. What are you having? I think it's important you give yourself a bit of a break, especially if you're not feeling well. A cuppa will perk you up a bit!

Re: Night Shift

I've never heard of tulsi tea before @Former-Member. What's in it?

Hi @Appleblossom how are you?

Re: Night Shift

It's an Indian tea and it has tulsi (hoy basil) blend, Krishna tulsi, vana tulsi, cardamom, chamomile, peppermint, dwarf morning glory in it. I do notice that even when I don't get to sleep for a long time I wake up feeling much more rested

Re: Night Shift

Sounds wonderful @Former-Member I'll get some if I ever see it up here. There are no shops anymore up here with a good range of healthy herbal teas unfortunately.

Re: Night Shift

Glad you are here @Appleblossom , do you have a favourite tea? Even if you swil it 🙂
I find the tulsi tea in a little Asian grocery store in mt gambier, it the size of a closet lol but I love the way it smells in there!

Re: Night Shift

I have a lovely selection than includes a pomegranate tea ... it was given last christmas by the family of the girl that was just here

When son's girl is here ... we sometimes enjoy a tea together ... that feels nice

I used to be allergic to the word "nice" I would go into paroxysms and rant in my mind or out of it ... but a truly nice family or decent kid is a wonderfully healing person.

They are a lucky and hard-working family, (just not in piano) but grounded and with social justice sense ... so I cant be jelous or angry ... cos they are .. nice people.

Re: Night Shift

@Appleblossom Sometimes 'nice' just seems the most appropriate word to use! You just reminded me I had an english teacher once who made us bury certain words - literally. Then we had to use alternative words in everything we wrote for her. I soon learned to use Roget's Thesaurus! I was also glad to move on from that class but I still hit certain words that were on that list.

@Former-Member How's the time out with a cuppa going - is your headache going away?

Re: Night Shift

It's comforting in a way to meet those families and kids but I struggle with the luck of the draw concept that some people grow up knowing and understanding and being safe and loved and others just don't get it... It makes me so mad sometimes!!
