Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

I just looked at a thread you were on .... that made me laugh at you both welcoming somebody to the forum with feet in your mouths ... lol ... though not at the original poster ... I can tick off most of the BPD things off the box ... and I feel I am often bi-polar ... maybe I am greedy and I want all the diagnoses ... and thats they wont give me a proper one.

I wonder how @Mazarita is going ... she must be busy which is a good sign.

Re: Night Shift

It is not a level playing field out there.

As teachers we do have to do the right thing by our students ... I am lucky as I dont have to deal with a classroom full.... cos of neck I couldnt deal with any discipline issues so I never go to schools.

When I first left ex ... I met 3 women teachers in the community who had been attacked by out of control kids and were sporting bandages of one kind or another ...

The kids who dont lord it over others get my vote ...

Hi @Appleblossom, @Former-Member, @eth. I just got home a little while ago from a friend visit. Not a very active today here on the domestic front but kept up the exercise and went for a walk.

Re: Night Shift

Do you want to pursue being diagnosed @Appleblossom?

Re: Night Shift

My foot is firmly wedged in my mouth - probably why I do better here on the forums 🙂

Yes I've had a couple of close calls with kids and it's tough sometimes. My new school for next year was just the subject of a random drug testing of all parents dropping off their kids - they got over 10 parents eek!!

Hi @Mazarita
Sounds like u did the most important stuff! Well done :)lj

@Former-Member @eth I got the abbreviations BPD and BD (bipolar) mixed up when I first arrived at the forums. I still find them easy to confuse when reading.

Re: Night Shift

This new GP suggested I would get better targeted treatment if I am properly diagnosed ... I think it is wise as I feel a lot of harm has been done by people in my family refusing to accept their labels ... eg mum and ex ... I have honestly tried to live as well as I can on my own 2 feet ... if I can get support and reduce my SI torture it would help a lot.

at the same time I am having a "social" conversation with a shrink in my choir about the limits of diagnosis. He doesnt know all my story but a few bits have slipped out .... it just does ... but we also talk science, music etc ...

Re: Night Shift

@Appleblossom I found getting an accurate diagnosis meant I was at last able to better educate myself about what was going on, get appropriate medication and most importantly learn to self manage better due to the combination of both. For me it was a real breakthrough. Hoping you can have an experience like this too. Not saying everything is all better now but it's certainly better than it was with so many years of 'wandering in the wilderness'.
