Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

@Mazarita Hoping the news is good from your partner's tests.

Re: Night Shift

@eth, thanks for the hopefulness. The news is not the worst and not the best. He will require surgery. But, being the positive person he is, he's looking at it as good news compared to what he was fearing. There are still some aspects of it that will remain unknown until after he has the surgery itself, which may be some time away yet. Basically, things are okay for the time being.

The goddess of mixed news and mixed blessings can be a little tough to welcome in our lives...

@Mazarita - sending you both hugs...

I hope things go smoothly for you. Weren't you waiting on a test too, Maz? Sorry... I too get confused with so many people and the complex threads that weave the fabric of our lives...

Huggles... 🙂

Re: Night Shift

@Silenus,

Every time you mention the butcher birds where you are, I am reminded of the butchies that used to visit at the Queenslander house we lived in some years ago. On one occasion, one of them flew down and sat on the table between us on the back porch and sat talking to us for about 10 minutes straight. We didn't say a word and just listened. What a beautiful communication that was, so melodically complex, I still remember it over a decade later. Although our conscious minds didn't understand, I feel the bird was telling us something we needed to hear in some deeper part of our minds. Perhaps just telling us to shut up and listen to real music, which we gratefully did.

The news, the news, it is okay. Yes, I am waiting on an appointment for some health issues too, which may or may not involve scary tests. Practising postponing the worries about both of us until later and staying focussed on the present, which is pretty darn good all things considered.

Thanks for your huggles, sending em back on over your way. 🙂

Re: Night Shift

Thinking of you @Mazarita and sending you strength to maintain your 'postponing the worries' practice. Hoping the wait for each of you is not too long and that healing is swift.

Thinking of you too @Decadian since your sharing this morning.

I often wish I could come up with more words of support but the last few days I've had a bit of a fuzzy mind during the day (getting used to new med regime). Today I did a new mental health care plan and am now waiting to hear back from the same psychologist I was seeing up until 6 months ago. So hopefully I won't be pouring all my stuff out here as much. Sending gratitude and care to all those I have shared with the last few weeks and thanking you for trusting me too.

Re: Night Shift

Hi all,

So I'm back at work tonight for 1 hr after 3 weeks forced break due to the heart issues. I just picked up my medical clearance. I have 2 private special needs students tonight both with autism so I will start at 7pm and finish at 8pm. I'm feeling like taking some extra meds just to cope, my anxiety is through the roof.

I am a professional swimming teacher with state recognition for my skills, my families haven't any idea of my MI health.

So here goes the personality switch with the customer service hat on!

One day I'm not going to be able to pull it all off and I'll be a blubbering mess somewhere with everyone just looking on....
