Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Thanks @eth. I feel you come up with ample words of support and are very generous in your approach to the forum. I never feel you are pouring all your stuff out here. Even if you were, that's what the forum is for. I always welcome news of you and how you are going and would miss that news if it weren't coming. Go glad to hear you have the mental health care plan in place now, in addition to the new medication dosage. Hoping this improves things for you in a lotonce you get past this rough time with the meds change and chest infection. Sending gratitude back to you for your presence here.

Hi @Angels333, I know what you mean about the 'personality switch'. Most people I meet in real life would not guess I had MI unless I told them. I'm good at acting bright and friendly in most situations. But I get exhausted from the effort to mask my anxiety and need a lot of recovery time afterwards. At the moment, just one activity per day outside the flat is more than I'm quite managing yet and I usually need to sleep afterwards to recoup some energy (sleep disturbance plays into this too). I have been a blubbering mess in work situations in the past. Congratulations on getting back to work and being brave in the face of your anxiety. Your work sounds so very meaningful and worthwhile. Kind wishes.

Sending you as much strength as can be conveyed over an internet line, @Former-Member. You are still doing it with work and responsibilities and showing such courage. It amazes me what you are achieving.

Hi @Former-Member I'd just like to repeat what @Mazarita just posted to you. I also think you're amazing with all that you are doing. I guess it's family time right now and I hope you're enjoying your kids and get some good rest later.

Hi @plasmo, @Faith-and-Hope,

Not quite wound down enough for sleep after a big day. How are you both?

Re: Night Shift

@plasmo Not much really.

I've had a bit of a rough day. Trying to process it a bit so I can settle down to sleep.

How are you going with looking into TAFE courses ? Any progress ?
