Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Not too bad @eth
Like you I've been battling a chest infection.
My real concern (apart from my darling daughter) is that I've been experiencing a lot of severe headaches. I woke around 3 this morning with a pounding head so I won't be getting to rehearsal today.
I'm just really beginning to worry that these headaches may be a flare up of a much more serious problem. Just for now, each time I find myself starting to think this way I am using thought stopping mechanisms. Worrying isn't going to change anything.
Real life is a huge challenge for most people MI or not.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Kurra I hope your headache has settled down by now. Might be worth seeing a doctor if they continue. Could be part of the flu but the doctor would probably reassure you. How do you do the 'thought stopping mechanisms'? You're right about life being a challenge for most people.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Kurra

It is true that life is challenging - MI or not - and I am not sure exactly what MI is - maybe no one does

But if flashbacks to the past events in our lives count - yes - I have those and they happen a lot at this time of year - and I believe the label is PTSD

So - reagardless of whatever - you have a flu-thing and max headaches - as you say - this is pretty rough regardless of your emotional state - and well - ah - I guess headaches are often a symptom of tough thoughts and how does one stop these - it makes me feel pretty uncomfortable too - when mine come around I would love to know how to turn them off and have no idea

But the flu will go away - I hope you don't have it for long - is it a virus sort of 24 hour thing or the big bad flu

But it seems to be a lot and I seem to be rattling

All the best @Kurra

Re: Night Shift

Wow @Mazarita@eth

You girls are awesome including these delicate issues in the conversation - it must take a lot of courage

I don't know what it's like to be different in that way - but years have taught me not to have prejudice - I sometimes tell people I had an aboriginal child - and it is only when they look at me strangely that I fall over myself and say we adopted him not knowing - but then - sometimes I don't bother to explain -

We should not need to explain our differences - people who have blue hair don't explain to me why they have blue hair - and as we all have something different -

Viva la difference - I love the experience of living in a multi-cultural society. How boring if we were all straight.

This is Decadian - really rather embarrassed - said too much? Maybe

But I think you are awesome

Thanks @Decadian. How are you today?

Re: Night Shift

Sorry @Kurra

I misread your post - it's your daughter who has the massive headaches

That would be a major worry - is she studying or working or taking time off with them. Has she been to a doctor and had anything investigate

I would be worried too - and get headache myself

I wish both of you all the best with all of that

Re: Night Shift

Hi All
I'm the one experiencing severe headaches. My daughter needs to think about her behaviour instead of criticizing everyone else.
I'm scared about my headaches I've been having recently because I've had a lot of treatment not so long ago for an extremely serious condition.
I've got a check up early June so I'll wait until then before I panic.
