Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member, hugs for what is happening with your brother. I really haven't got any great ideas other than to somehow keep letting him know you love him as best you can. I wonder if you might get some better ideas in the Carers Forum about that, where you might find people with more experience of caring for a loved one with similar mental illness. Some of the people here in the Lived Experience forum are also over there, including @Faith-and-Hope and @PeppiPatty. I've posted there occasionally myself as I sometimes get confused about how to deal with my partner's undiagnosed 'delusions'. Overall he's a happy and functional chappy. It's only when my own mental health is particularly down that I have trouble dealing with his wildly imaginative mind. We had take away pizza for dinner but yours sounds heaps better! Finally got the dishes done here. 🙂

It's ok for us to have different thinking on any given topic with no need for forgiveness or further explanation.

Re: Night Shift

Hi everyone
It's very noticeable that almost no one is posting. This may or may not be related to the awkwardness that happened earlier today.
Each and every one of us requires different amounts of support at random and quite unpredictable times.
If any of you aren't posting tonight because you don't want to cause any further distress, I ask each and everyone of us if this is helping you or @eth in any way. If I were walking a mile in eth's shoes I know that I would be feeling even worse about how things worked out.
I've had a rather distressing afternoon in relation to my daughter but for now I'm choosing not to go in to any details.

The SANE forums are and should always remain supportive and caring environments for everyone.
Can we put what happened behind us and concentrate on being a supportive, respectful and non-judgmental community?

Please don't take this post as a criticism or as being directed as t any one person. It is merely my way of trying to help us all to move forward.
Hugzzz to all.

Re: Night Shift

This this is a detail from a Van Gogh painting.

I have created a misunderstanding, but it would take more explanation to try to clarify it, so I will leave it alone.

I hope it will clarify itself in time.

Have a good evening everyone ❤️

Re: Night Shift

@Faith-and-Hope I think it's just best to move forward for now if we can. I simply do not have any more energy for that topic today. Hoping you can accept that.

Re: Night Shift

Being a parent of adult children can be very difficult. My daughter believes that I've ruined her wedding day, her honeymoon and her marriage. I'm not privvy to what I did to create this disaster. She has not communicated with me since early January. Iit is her birthday at the end of this week.
She is ĺiving in another country. I will send her a card and gift but I suspect that will be the wrong thing. If I sent her nothing it would also be seen as wrong. It's one of those lose lose situations for a mum.
I phoned her twice today but she is choosing not to answer. I can't do much about that.
I do know that my love will remain unconditional until my last breath.
My thoughts are in turmoil tonight. I can only change myself. I am powerless to change her current feelings. It doesn't make it easy.
Fortunately her husband has remained in regular contact with me and that has helped a lot.
I miss her so much.
