Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

@Faith-and-Hope, sigh, there they are -Sunflowers - ETERNAL HOPE! thank you.

Our adult children sure can be challenging. Its hard to let go as they spread their wings. It hurt me heaps (bpd & grief ) but i realise the harder they fight to pull away, the stronger the bond was, so its a compliment really.(sounds good anyway).

My sister thinks i tried to ruin her son's wedding 4yrs back, and i still don't understand why. We haven't talked since. I tried & tried but the balls now filly in her court. I just send cards (unlike her).

Bit cooler tonight, sleep better in the cool 🙂

Re: Night Shift

I am so glad your daughter's husband has remained in regular contact with you @Kurra.

Wishing you courage and strength in your mother's love. It sounds really hard, and you are doing so well with it.

Sounds tough with your brother too @Former-Member. My brother recently remarried. He lives away from me. Knowing his wife is now there means I don't have to try to stretch to watch over him so much, as well as managing what we have got going on here.

He had a seizure recently, and it would have meant me trying to get to where he is and care for him. Impossible. Instead I heard about it afterwards when he was in recovery.

Re: Night Shift

I just wanted to send kind thoughts to anyone having a difficult time tonight. On the parenting of adult children I don't think it gets any easier regardless of where they are living or where their lives are at. You never think when you first hold them in your arms that life would change forever, that there would be joy and sadness and confusion and frustration that you never anticipated but regardless of all this there always seems eternal love for them. I know this won't help much but hope that things get better.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Kurra I'm sorry to hear about what you are going through, the pain you must be feeling. And the confusion when someone who you have raised is making themselves so unreachable with no explanation. Sometimes all we can do is keep loving them and let them go until they reach out to us. Her husband might be able to find out what she thinks you have done, but I guess you would have asked him already. I'm glad you have at least that contact. It's hard being so far away too. I would send the gift anyway, do what is right for you. Sending you strength.

Re: Night Shift

@plasmo So you've got it too. I've been off colour with it for a week now. Maybe it's a computer virus! Hope you feel better soon.
