Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Wow @Faith-and-Hope your family is amazing the way they pull together and support each other. Here's hoping Dtr3 meets her goals. And all strength to you too 🙂

@Mazarita I've had 3 sleeps since 9 pm but they were quite deep and heavier than I've been getting so maybe the new dose of med is starting to have some effect. All together nearly 5 hours plus an hour's nap late yesterday afternoon so much more than the night before. The chest infection is not feeling any better unfortunately and I cough a lot when I lie down which isn't helping. Moan moan blah blah blah. How are you going tonight?

Re: Night Shift

Yeah @Mazarita. I feel like a ping-pong ball, but it means that we are still operational.

If D3 just couldn't function, and her heart wasn't in it, then there's no point trying to persist on this path. That's clearly not the case. But it is erratic and taxing. I'm looking at this as another pinch-point. There is a weekend waiting for us after this day, so I just have to get through this day at the moment.

We are also on the west coast. Two hours behind you guys. Might get some more sleep tonight, and the kids too.

Re: Night Shift

@eth, I'm guessing you'd be no fan of antibiotics. I'm not either but will usually take them if I can't shake an infection after a week or two. Fortunately haven't needed them for years now. Know what you mean about the coughing at night, getting that with the chronic throat problem I've developed. Kind of makes me dread going to bed a bit at the moment because lying down always brings on the coughs. Getting the coughs during the day too but fortunately not all the time. Yeah, moan, moan, bla bla, lol. That's part of what we're here for though, getting out what's going on with each other. It's an online support group after all, got to be expected.

Glad to hear you've got more and deeper sleep than usual.

Re: Night Shift

@Mazarita antibiotics won't do anything for a virus. How has your sleep been tonight? Any dreams?

Re: Night Shift

@Faith-and-Hope, lots of stress on D3 is probably the reason for the ping ponging too. As @eth mentioned, it's awesome that the rest of the family is supporting her so well through this (except for husband by the sounds of it, sad about that). Supportive waves across the continent to you from Queensland.

Re: Night Shift

@eth, ah okay. Guess it just has to run its course then. Yes dreams happening but not as intense just now.

Re: Night Shift

Thanks @eth. I am relieved to see the kids still working together.

I'm glad you've had more sleep. It's restorative. And please keep blah, blah, blahing at us ☺️ It's good for you, and good for us to know how you are.
