Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Rescued by the business of a household of teenagers, I'm going to have a hit of tennis with my middle son. I know tonight when things slow down the negatives will echo through my head again thanks particularly @eth @NikNik @Caroline

Re: Night Shift

Enjoy the tennis @Angels333 Somtimes it responding to the moment with family .. or doing the daily domestics that can draw us out of our sense of misery. other times its not enough. Take care. Glad you have a psychiatrist you can trust.

@eth I found the mental health triage team at my local hospital better than lifeline. But I have only rung them every couple of years or so.

@Silenius I find it interesting how the major religions share many themes. In the world but not of it can be christian or buddhist too. I have lived that way for a very long time. That is when I do get out and about.

Meister Eckhart wrote interestingly about Detachment as do the Buddhists. We in the west have discovered some of the gems in Islam and from Persia through Rumi and the more mystical and relatively less religious Sufis. I hope we can turn some of the contemporary issues around by refusing to allow ourselves to be polarised and find our commonness with Islamic moderates.

It is such a sorry state of affairs the way the media has handled the latest conflicts.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope what do you mean I found you?

Re: Night Shift

I was on another thread, and you popped up with a "like" over there, that's all.

I have had a rough day with Dtr3, but sadgirl needs some company right now. I'm making dinner (late tonight) but I might keep chatting to her for a while.

Catch up with you later if you're about, and I can find some second wind amongst the pots and pans ....

Re: Night Shift

Hi @eth, how was your day? I cleaned up my act and got out for about an hour's walking. Visited a friend. Gave her a neck and shoulder massage. Some phone calls about appointments. Much better today than yesterday. 🙂

Re: Night Shift

Hey @Faith-and-Hope and @Mazarita I took my neighbour to the hospital this morning (54km round trip) and went back to get her this afternoon and otherwise had a very quiet day. Very little energy at all and that's no surprise after only 2 1/2 hrs sleep last night. Still fighting a chest infection too. Glad to hear you had a better day @Mazarita. Sorry to hear your day was difficult @Faith-and-Hope
