Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Still here too, @eth and @plasmo. I've raved on a lot here today though so feeling a bit quiet now (thank goodness I hear you say, lol).

Re: Night Shift

Not at all @Mazarita. Your contributions are always excellent reading to me, lucid and well-considered. I've been wishing I could say more a few times but just not coming up with the right words today. Even though I'm still not sleeping my head's been a bit fuzzy, I think it's the new dose I'm on but it could be the lack of proper sleep. Probably both.

Have you had any sleep yet tonight?

Re: Night Shift

@Mazarita I think maybe the medication comment was too specific. It disappeared really fast when I tried to reply to it. Sometimes it's hard to work out exactly where they draw the line. I thought it was just that we weren't allowed to name particular meds, not categories. e.g. I have seen plenty of posts where antidepressants were mentioned and they don't get deleted.

Anyway it was another one that was changed. I'm hoping to unwind and get sleepy again too. I napped briefly and went straight to bed but couldn't sleep. I should start keeping a sleep diary again I think so I can show it to the Dr.

Re: Night Shift

@eth, yes looks like I have been moderated again. I think sometimes the overnight moderators are not fully aware of what is okay and what is not. We have mentioned types of medications many times over all over the forum so really my post shouldn't be a problem. The rule is indeed about mentioning specific names as far as I've understood it over many posts over the past year. Oh well, no big deal. Was I right in what I suggested? How has your day been?

Re: Night Shift

@eth, Sorry, I replied too fast to your comment and my questions were redundant. Oh okay, so a different one to help you sleep better. I'm drinking another liquorice tea at the moment, hoping to wind down too. It's been an intense day on the inside of this ole girl.

Re: Night Shift

No @Mazarita it wasn't the one you suggested but another type. I guess I can't say which one! It was one of the meds for bipolar.

I had a slow start today after all the hours awake last night, then spent a few hours with my neighbours and had lunch there. They had other guests and most of the time I was listening to Greek, which I only understand a very few words of! But I still enjoyed myself and it was good to get out of the flat and away from the computer.

I am spending tomorrow taking another neighbour to the hospital for a day procedure. It's across town but I'll probably make the trip twice rather than filling in all those hours - not sure yet.

Re: Night Shift

Well it appears tonight is one of my sleepless nights as I am experiencing intense back pain. It's an old problem that is deteriorating with time as more of my bones are fusing together.
It's just a bit of a bummer because I'm on a 6am start today. At least the wireless helps to distract me a little.
I've broken my rule to stay in bed and got up to go outside for a durry. It's so rare for me to smoke these days but it gives me a psychological sense of relaxing a bit.
It's very cold here so I'll be back to my leccky blanket pretty quick smsart.

Stay strong and stand tall. Musicians unfortunately can be some of the bitchiest people around. Go to chpir for your own enjoyment and do your best to ignore the comments from those who appear to be ignorant of your particular situation.
