Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Thanks guys, sorry for previous epistle.

I love autumn too, Seems it might be a short mild winter here in SE Qld. Very dry.

Anyone watched the movie 'SHRINK' staring Kevin Spacey? Its based on true story of a psychiatrist who doesn't cope well after his wife's suicide Kind of dark humour. i guess. Watched it today. something about it.

Hi @PeppiPatty

I held off replying to your post, because this is unfamiliar territory for me, and I felt that both @eth and @Mazarita would know better how to respond, and they both have.

I agree that none of us, or anybody here, can really diagnose what is causing you to experience shaking and trembling. I would have suggested mentioning it to your GP, but if you are seeing other specialists, perhaps they can advise you who you should follow through with.

Yes, it is very concerning that anybody would be yelling at you to hang the washing at 11pm, unless the house is big and they are just yelling so you can hear them across distance, and if perhaps someone's uniform needed hanging out to be dry for school or work tomorrow and you needed reminding because you offered to do it already, but that is a very different situation from someone yelling aggressively, or demanding that you hang washing.

You have said at the same time that you "love your gorgeous husband" and you are "very adored", which is what made me think the yelling wasn't intended to be aggressive and demanding or controlling.

If you are experiencing relationships that are unstable, that swing between seeming loving and supportive one minute, then become aggressive, demanding and controlling the next, I think you need to speak up to your health professionals about that, and as soon as you can. It can be very confusing, but at the same time, you know in your heart that it's not right and you need someone to help you.

If that is what you are experiencing, please try to say it a bit more clearly, and we can find numbers for you to call to speak to someone for support, and they can help you work out how to change your situation.

Keep talking to us @PeppiPatty, and telling us how you are ❤️

I am trying to help two people from taking their lives, i am struggling to help them, i am scared my words will not be enough

Re: Night Shift

That is not something you should be trying to do on your own @Jacques. By all means, help them to keep treading water, but you need to get professional support involved through -

Lifeline 13 11 14

or 000 if it becomes an emergency

Re: Night Shift

Icknow, but they trust no one but me, i am just unsure how to keep them safe, i am trying my best, i am hoping me just caring will help.

I struggle with my own thoughts of SI, i worry they see me as a hippocrit, i will not abandon them, no matter what, they are friends

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Jacques I was recently in the same situation you are in and learned that we can only do so much for someone else feeling that way. We can be there unconditionally but we have to take care of ourselves at the same time. Take care. Sending you strength. I agree that it is important to have someone like Lifeline involved. You can talk to them about how the situation is for you too.
