Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @PeppiPatty, I hear you about how tired you feel all the time. I also relate to having unusual levels of tiredness since childhood, probably trauma and anxiety induced. I think in the anxiety topic discussion that was on the other night there was some discussion about how anxiety can induce depression through a kind of 'burn out'. Sounds like there is so much going on around you, with husband, son, work, that you are burning through whatever energy reserves you may have had when you were living alone and had more time to focus on your own needs. I agree with @eth that it's totally out of line for your husband to yell at you to get the washing out on the line at 11pm or anytime really. In my view, that is basically a form of abuse. i wonder are you really okay in that situation. Is the decision to work again in your best interests at this time? I hope the psychotherapist is worth it when there may be alternatives to seeing her, like seeing a psychologist with little or no 'gap' payment on a mental health care plan, and/or a psychiatrist who bulk bills. Personally I think it sounds like you may have more than can be be handled on your plate. But I'm saying this as someone who is just interpreting things from what you write on the screen, not from first hand knowledge. And I know that life is more complicated than our ideas of it very often. Whatever happens, dear friend, I'm sending you hugs and support.

Hi @Former-Member, sending you hugs too for what you are going through.

Hi @Shaz51 and @Jacques

It's a small world after all... hahaha... lovely to meet you... I'm slowly finding my way around the site...

I don't want to overwhelm. I can be a little intense sometimes... the whole bipolar thing... giggle...

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Shaz51 - the best time of year for me in Denmark is spring - March or April perhaps, into early May. It's still chilly, but the emerald colours of green new shoots in the beech forests is something that is with me for all my life. The memory of those colours have saved my life several times...

Huge hugs... 🙂
