Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

@Jacques I had the same experience as @Mazarita. I am being treated for bipolar 1. Of course there is a lot we can do with self monitoring and self management but I find I stay much closer to the centre with the meds as well. I haven't had any psychosis at all since starting on meds for BP and as they were gradually adjusted and doses fine tuned things got better and better for me. Just be completely honest with your doctor about what you are going through and how you feel and be strong about asserting yourself if you want to.

Re: Night Shift

@Angels333, it is hard to mentally and emotionally process such a blow to physical health at a young age. Be as gentle and kind to yourself as you can through this time. There may be some adjustments to your lifestyle needed. You are wise to think of your children at such a difficult time. I don't have children but I often think I am living for my partner, my mum, friends and anyone who would miss me if I was gone. Through darker times, thoughts like this can help us make it through.

@Jacques, doh, well just ignore our bipolar theme then. Sorry to hear you have high blood pressure. Maybe the medications will help with that? There is one I know of that can also help with anxiety, so maybe something good could come of it there as well?

@eth, glad you got some more solid sleep this morning. I know how much you need it. I was up until dawn after we chatted so surprised myself by getting up earlyish again to go to meditation. Even despite the headache, that part of the day was wonderful.

Re: Night Shift

@Angels333 sometimes we give, sometimes we receive ... you need to focus on your needs right now and that's totally understood.

Hi everyone.

Sending lots of love out to everyone from there. I'm having real trouble coping with depression and anxiety, was hoping for some inspiring stories of those of you who have risen from the Ashes.

I like this one @Jennifer_waugh -
