Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Decadian havent talked to you for a while. You seem to be settling in to the forum and are a good calming presence to read.

@Mazarita that was interesting reading about the melatonin.

@Angels333 I knew a few people who have had early heart attacks. It says that there is something REAL and not psychosomatic about your stress and anxiety levels. Go very gently and try and heal.

Hey @Jacques

@eth we do need to do self care. What are you planning to fill your days with over the next few weeks now you have the house back to yourself?

The forum community has really blossomed it has a good supportive welcoming feel, I think.

Hugs to all.

@Jennifer_waugh I answered a bit of your question on your other thread. Not sure if there are any other takers .. sometimes it takes time for enough people to log in and those moved to respond to write their piece. This is where we can post just to chat or say hi or get support. Or you can start own threads or post replies as you feel appropriate.

Welcome to this thread @Faith-and-Hope

I like the Caroline Myss quote ... I might meditate on it for bed tonight ... when I get there.

Re: Night Shift

Welcome @Jennifer_waugh. Glad you have joined us here at the 24 hour night shift. Sorry you have been struggling so hard of late. Anxiety and depression can be tormenting and there are so many here who will relate. Rising from the ashes is what many of us do on a daily basis, even if it doesn't look like it at times. I read in your discussion thread that you are interested in media. I'm interested in that too and would be interested to hear more about your aspirations in that direction.

@Faith-and-Hope, love your inspiring quotes!

I found this too -

WARR;OR

It was in the form of a tattoo, and I am sure most of you know the ; symbol is being used to represent support for mental health. So, a warrior for mental health ❣

Re: Night Shift

I'm not sure if I have a story about rising above the ashes but ??????

I think I have some insight into moving forward and letting go of past events/adversities

A bit of background is that I went through some struggles in my late teens and took quite sometime after to get some traction in my life.

I decided I needed to be very honest and truthful about my history because the truth will set you free and I think that is what is needed. After that I went away to university and lived on campus and followed my passion and first love- and that was to get a degree and to be independent.

I think also setting yourself goals and making a life you value is really important too.

Re: Night Shift

@Faith-and-Hope, I didn't know that about the ; symbol either, good to know. 🙂

Hi @Former-Member, good to see you again. 🙂

@Appleblossom, I was in the middle of replying to a longer post you wrote here not long ago and it disappeared. There are a some tech glitches on the site at the moment it seems. Maybe that's what happened there. Hope you are going well today.

I'm logging off now to try to wind down before sleep. Ukelele class tomorrow for the first time in about 7 weeks (being interstate, sick, etc). Need to be able to get myself out of bed in the morning for it so hoping for an uninterrupted sleep tonight. Rest well everyone.

Wise words @Faith-and-Hope. Thankyou. Glad you found us @Jennifer_waugh. Just had a long phone call with my kid.

Re: Night Shift

Night @Mazarita I had a good day. Lovely to hear from you.

I am going to try and settle soon too. Great about the uke class ... hope you enjoy it ... music is great when we dont fall over.

Last Sunday I had " falling over' chats with a lady at choir who had bruised her finger falling in the train. Yep I fall over often enough that I have stopped getting embarrassed about it. Just gotta roll with the punches and get up after the falls.

Cheers

Apple

Search "semicolon tattoos", then press on "images". There are a beautiful array of creative takes on the theme.

It's a Phoenix story. It bids you to rise out of the ashes of whatever has burnt you in life.

(Does that make Cinderella a Phoenix?)
