Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Shaz51 did you hear back from the MH team yet? Hoping you are getting a chance to look after yourself too. Best wishes to both of you.

@Angels333 at least the medicos are on the right track now. The cardiologist should be able to help you and will be able to have communication with your psychiatrist if needed about your meds. Wishing you a swift recovery and peace in the meanwhile. Don't push yourself too hard at work!

Gee @Angels333

I'm sorry to be late responding to this - it's something really serious and you need to have supportive messages

It seems you were stuffed around with a bad dx - which is bad - gall stones are painful but a heart attack is life-threatening

So for now - I guess you are waiting for tests - and we will all be glad to know how things are going

All the best - and I will be waiting to hear

Re: Night Shift

thanks @eth

I am so blessed to have a supportive workplace. All my colleagues and bossed are aware of my mental illness and they treat me so well if I'm unwell. I was showing my manager my texts after work where my Psych was demanding I go to hospital and she texted me today and said 'glad you're resting. I am a swimming teacher and I work across a number of locations assessing and teaching for a large western Sydney council. I can say to my manager 'I'm going through some depression and I need a break" and I know I'll have a job to go back to.

I feel very upset when I read about people who are completely unable to work because their workplace ethics leave zero room for a person with any illness let alone the extra stigma of mental illness. My husband has crohns disease and he is not really supported at all , he is in constant fear of losing his job when his illness flares up which adds to the stress and then make to illness even worse.

So for those friends out there struggling with difficult workplaces I take my hat off to you.

Re: Night Shift

Partially my fault @Decadian as I was asked numerous times if I had chest pain and i kept saying no. I happened to have referred pain apparently. It's the same now with the monitor on, I feel twinges here and ther and I'm not sure if it's cest pain, so I'm just pressing the button at anything remotely like chest pain.

thanks @Faith-and-Hope

I haven't met you before, I've been very quiet on the forums as I've been overwhelmed with all this health stuff.
