Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

@Angels333 Tell the staff about the anxiety. They should be able to help.

Aw @Shaz51

What can I say?

Of course your husband is sick of feeling horrible in waves - and you are sick of feeling horrible all the time

I can't really comment - I don't want to say the wrong thing - but I hope he is getting some help with his dis-sease

Re: Night Shift

That's a good idea @Angels333

It's better to err on the safe side with this kind of thing - and I know - none of us want to make a fus

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Angela33, not good they think you had a heart attack, and at your age too. Heart attack is a lay term for damage to the heart muscle, and this can be mild to serious. Just have to figure out what caused it & try correct it. Sounds like they are doing that. If its any consolation - my dad has had x4 heart attacks & still with us & mobile at 82. At a first aid update recently they informed is that 60% heart attacks will not survive resus. So, you've already beaten the odds. Trouble is, do you want to? beat the odds? fight to survive, or "give up"? I understand the temptation for the later. With waiting on a biopsy results & a miserably cold chest infection & nobody who really loves me, its made me rethink if I have it in me to f i g h t when so tired. Do we want to? Anyway, i sense a spark still there in you - so fan the fire & press on one day at a time.

Re: Night Shift

I'm fine thanks @Shaz51

I'm really glad I live alone and don't have to bother anyone else with my habits - eg staying up late and staying in bed until I am ready to get up

I can only imagine anyone have the same complaint - in my case PTSD and chronic pain - it's better to be alone with it

Re: Night Shift

@Angels333, so sorry to hear what you are going through. I too am holding hopes that your tests come back with the most positive answers possible. It's great that you have a supportive workplace. All the more reason to banish the worry about taking time off work at this crucial time in your life. I understand the situation your husband is in as I have crohns disease too. Wishing you both the very best. For now, rest as well as you can.

@Shaz51, as you suggest, it may be that your husband is suffering withdrawal effects from coming off medication. That can certainly be a tough time. Really hoping you get to see or hear from medical people about this very soon. Today hasn't been great here. Only 90 minutes sleep last night and partner's hours at work have been cut again. His income is now at a level lower than the pension. Basically okay though.

@Former-Member, I hope today was better than anticipated.

Hi to all here, too many to tag these days! Wishing you all a peaceful evening.

Hello @Mazarita @Decadian @eth

@Angels333 what a trying week you have had healthwise. It takes extra courage to keep at it. I am impressed you have managed to get your work onside.

Sorry if I dont tag you all. Just reading and posting a little.
