Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

@Shaz51, changing meds can be a difficult process. Really hope the new one gives your partner better relief without the intolerable side effects. Movie was only okay. Mainly it was just nice to be having a kind of 'date' out with partner.

Re: Night Shift

Hey , it's been a long day with very little sleep, due to sitting in emergency with close friend all night, so I am hoping I can shut down tonight and actually sleep .

Re: Night Shift

@Shaz51, most psych meds take some time to take effect. If very lucky, sometimes changes can be noticed within a week, sometimes a couple of weeks, sometimes up to six weeks. The process needs a bit of perserverence to see whether they are really working or not. This is one of the things that makes it difficult to switch meds. It might be worth it in the long run if the new one eventually gives your husband some relief. Thinking of the both of you.

Hi @Mazarita

Now he has stopped the anti anxiety meds -- and the new meds look like they are sleeping tablets

Re: Night Shift

@Shaz51, oh okay. That sounds different then and may work more quickly (or not, since I can't work out what he's taking). It's a pity we can't mention specific medication names here sometimes, so that we could share experiences at times like this. Best wishes with it still. Hopefully medical people will be of more assistance for you very soon. x
