Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

@Tufflife Hope they look after your friend well and you are able to get home for some sleep before too long. I remember when my psychiatrist said he didn't need to see me anymore about 6 months ago I was a bit shocked at first then I thought "I've graduated - that's a good thing". But you can still go back if you feel you want to.

They are looking after her.
I was happy when she said I didn't have to see her , but lately I have been thinking about it and how it might be good to see her again

Re: Night Shift

@eth, what do you mean by 'night of short naps' ? Try to picture you & its an image of person slumped over a desk woken by a buzzer each time one of us saneforumites post a chat. Or maybe you actually work night shift & do saneforums to pass the time? Yes? I was a shift worker nursing for many years. Or maybe you are at home with smartphone under your pillow set to buzz when you get an email?+
I woke with a coughing fit (asthma) with this annoying cold, so thought i'd check in here.
Do you ever think you don't have long to live? I don't do sickness or pain too well.
you have a dog? My tenterfield terrier is 14 now, spoilt, woke me to go out 3 times already tonight. He's my departed daughters dog so its hard to be firm with him.
Anyway, hope this doesn't actually wake you 😊

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member no nothing like what you said - I go to bed with no electronics in the room and just wake up frequently - usually every 1 1/2 to 2 hours and am up for a while before I can sleep again. Nothing I'm aware of wakes me up, just my brain.

No I don't have a dog.Sorry to hear your daughter has passed on. That must be hard.

I do wonder about how long I'll live but don't expect to go too soon. I am 53 shortly.

Re: Night Shift

Good morning everyone, I see it's been a busy night here. I got a full sleep finally. Still having bad dreams but not as intense as they were. Grateful. Welcome to night shift @Former-Member, @Tufflife.

@Former-Member, if you ever have trouble finding discussion threads on the forum, just go to the main page of the lived experience forum and enter the name of the thread in the search bar at the top. That will help lead you to where you want to go. I'm on a desktop computer but I think it's the same for mobiles.

@PeppiPatty, funny story about going to America and buying boxes of liquorice tea, only to find them half price in a supermarket at home. Yum... liquorice tea. I'd like to try to replace most of my coffees with it if I can. But sometimes I remind myself of that song, 'Bad Habits'... At least I've finally quit the most troublesome one for me (the green). Sorry about your bad day with husband. Good you will be seeing your psychotherapist again and that they are reducing the price for you.

Hi to others who have posted since I last did: @Former-Member, @eth, @Jacques, @plasmo.

Hope the day treats everyone well.
