Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Hi @Angels333....

Sorry to hear you are not well. Please don't feel you can't write about how you are feeling... I'm glad lifeline is helping you while you wait for your doctor's appointment.

Lots of strength,
Namaste,
A

Re: Night Shift

Hi @PeppiPatty it didn't rain for long unfortunately. We're unlikely to get much more at all until at least October as it's the start of the dry season here - we just have the wet and the dry basically.
During the day I mostly hang out at home reading or watching TV or online. I am on disability because of bipolar 1 and complex PTSD. Sometimes I have a visitor or have coffee with a neighbour and today I went out for dinner with a really good friend - Thai Prawn Salad - loved it.
I had many years of no contact with my mum but over the last few years we have both committed to accepting and loving each other. I decided I wanted to be there for her in her senior years despite the past and I try not to bring it up any more even though I still think about it at times. There was a lot to forgive each other for but it has become easier over time. I wish the same for you. I agree with your approach with your son and his time with his Grandma even tho' it must be hard for you at times.
I'd love to put pics of my tattoos on here too but they would identify me as I designed them myself and I think it might be against the rules.

Hi @Former-Member hoping you feel better soon. I loved Cloudstreet - anything by Tim Winton is good I reckon.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Angels333. I admire that you want to contribute positively to the forum. At the same time I encourage you to feel free to express anything that is helpful to you. Sorry you are unwell at the moment but good to hear you are speaking to Lifeline and have your doctor's psychiatrist appointment very soon. The forum is here for you now and/or when you return, whatever you decide is best. Sending hugs your way.

Hi @Former-Member, good to read your kind words, though the days are hard for you. On a lighter note, I can see the dilemma with library books and cats, lol! Maybe if you got the library book and very carefully kept it in an out of reach place to the cats, only taking it down when you want to read? It's cool that we can share our reading interests here. I'm still going on Peter Carey's Ned Kelly novel, that @PeppiPatty also loves. Going very slowly with it but finding it rewarding. By coincidence, I was staying part of the time in Kelly country when down south in Victoria.

Hi @eth, so good to see you around. Hope your day was okay @Former-Member.

Fond wishes @Shaz51, @Jacques, everyone here.

Thanks @Mazarita. How are you tonight? How was your day?

Re: Night Shift

@eth, the day was pretty good, except mainly for a very sore tongue from a sharp broken tooth that is giving me ulcers. Dentist appointment on Friday. I can't wait (not something I usually think about the dentist, hehe). Had a beach walk with a friend, which was lovely. She is bipolar and was in a pretty manically anxious state of mind. She talked almost constantly for almost three hours. I love her but started to get dizzy and feel unwell from all the talking at one point. On the other hand she is always very kind to me and helps me whenever she can (especially with getting myself out of the flat), so in another way I am glad to be able to be there for her in her various states. She and I are going to meditation tomorrow morning, which is a wonderful thing we share and helps us both. How are you today, what was your day like?

Re: Night Shift

@Jacques, yes, I've been free of the green for four weeks now and feeling very good about it and like my clearer head. I aim to never touch it again. Thanks for seeing the best in me (and even exaggerating it, hehe).

@eth, great to hear you had a lovely evening. Good idea about heading to bed, I'll be doing the same very shortly. Nighty night. 🙂
