Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Dear @Decadian

I love my tat. I got it when my son got better, when I was 40 years old.

I can't see it but others can. When I turn 55 years old; I'm going to get a long row of lace behind my arms......

Re: Night Shift

Hi @eth

Is it raining ? What do you do suring the day ?

Im at home trying to get my Mum to write to me which is a little bit of a nightmare but Im getting through and having answers sent to me.

I dont know why I dont just walk away but it's too difficult with my husband and son at home

I urge my son to see as much of my Mum as he can because she is his Grandma and he shouldn't regret anything with family. I thinnk shortly, I will write to my Mum that I have had any years of therapy over her but Ille need to see a Psychologist about it first.

Re: Night Shift

Hi all....

I am feeling really low/depressed....

My sister started talking me more on facebook messenger in the last few days - she basically wants me to play happy families & get along with her husband who I have been scared of for years - I saw her & one niece (she didn't bring the baby who I haven't met) & my nephew today - it was good to see them, but I found it very draining combined with the pressure to somehow 'get over it'... I tried very hard to keep my family together as a child - my dad was often threatening to leave & I would stand up for my mum & now I'm older & been through/going through so much - I'm just too tired to play HAPPY FAMILIES with my family & my partner's family....

Glad to hear others have enjoyed time with family @Mazarita & @eth...

I'm very glad you are doing somewhat better @Mazarita

Dear @Former-Member - I don't like hearing you are not coping (but please still reach out & say when you aren't!) - I wish I could help somehow - I can only imagine how hard it is to be juggling kids, work & mental ill health.... Sending virtual hugs

We desperately need rain here - it has rained lately, but only very lightly - the paddocks are dry & there is no grass for the animals to eat.... I also like the sound of rain - especially when I'm feeling low - it is like the sky crying for me....

For some reason I can't see the picture of your tattoo @PeppiPatty - I can see the picture of the man on the chairs & I like the meaning @Mazarita assigned to it...

Anyhow, I don't know what to do with myself right now. I finished a novel last night & can't decide what to read or re-read - I began to re-read I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, but I'm not in the mood to read about schizophrenia - even if she "recovers".... There is a dystopian novel I want to buy, but I don't feel like spending $.... Maybe I'll see if the library has Cloudstreet @Mazarita - although the kittens have been enjoying eating my novels & it probably isn't safe to get out library books! Oh dear!

Oh well, sorry for my rambling....

Namaste,

A

Re: Night Shift

Dear @PeppiPatty

I am so glad your son recovered - I don't know enough of your story yet - but hearing about a recovery is wonderful news

What is the symbolism of all the lace? It sounds as if turning 55 is a special date/year

My son didn't recover - it's 30 years in a few weeks - I should be thinking about something special for that date -

I'm thinking of some time away - I have thought about it long enough - time to put my plans into action

And yes - I am more than glad - really please to know - that you son recovered

Hi @Decadian...

Sorry your son didn't recover - you said it will be 30 years - did he pass away?

Sending strength,

Re: Night Shift

Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh Happy Families @Former-Member

Happy Famiies is a card game we sometimes play with our children - in real life it is not an activity for the faint-hearted, heavy hearted and tired

I understand your post - my opinion is that if my sister came to my door and wanted to play nice she would be welcome - and yet - I know people have to talk out the past before anything true and honest reconciliation - forgive and forget do not belong in the same sentence - except this one

We have to know our own heart and answer to that - it seems to me that you are past it - time has not healed

I am pretty much in that same situation - but to heart-sore to trust anyone to play Happy Families

I understand @Former-Member

Hi @Decadian...

Thank you for replying - I'm very anxious & paranoid from the day's interactions...

There are people I can't cope with....

It's hard enough staying afloat without added stress of trying for someone else sake...

Thank you for understanding & sorry things aren't good between you & your sister *virtual hug*

Namaste,

A

Re: Night Shift

Hi everyone,

I really want to contribute something positive to the forum each time I connect.

It's so good to read about you all, supporting each other.

I'll probably stay quiet for a few more days as I'm not really well atm and I can't say what I want to say as it isn't helpful for anyone.

But I am speaking to lifeline etc and I see my psychiatrist weekly so it's Monday and all O need to do is get to Thursday when I see my Dr and download everything to him.

Knowing that you are all here for when I recover is something to look forward to.
