Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

I am ok @eth. I have been very busy getting a life and getting my son out. Mostly it has been great; very satisfying, and I am watching my son grow into a beautiful man. There are ups and downs, but I am trying for safety so that a momentary slip of concentration doesnt result in a major accident. Mostly I have been more of a courage and adventure type person, so a focus on safety is not something that comes easily.

How are you.

@plasmo Is it worth sharing some of the content of your obssessions?

I found that I was getting very obssessive in my 30s and so resolved to have a few obssessions .. so I could switch track ... weird .. but that is how I came through. At first switching between my obssessions/interests was clunky and hard, but over time it became easier ???

Sometimes I felt driven to pursue a train of thought or issue for a while ...

What sort of work do you do? @plasmo

Re: Night Shift

@Appleblossom I'm happy for you that you and your son are getting out more, though ever since we met here I've had the impression you get out much more than I do. I agree that aiming at safety when driving is for sure a good goal!

I'm ok thanks, have already said most of what's happening with me here tonight. I've been counting down the sleeps til the kids get here but don't feel like I'll sleep much tonight. Hoping it's not a hypomanic swing. Will keep a close eye on moods and symptoms.

This is great all my friends and new are here..

Hi All, congrats @Appleblossom on your licence. I actually cant bear driving because I do a lot of it but this is what I signed up for, having my husband and son with me.

Am so thinking about you @Former-Member....like very much what @eth wrote which is taking it a day at a time or even one hour at a time. I promise you that all this time will reap it's own rewards......I never ever imagined that my middle brother would be doing whats he's doing to me these days but it's like, all this sibling rivalry is puoring out of him and causing me a lot of pain.

All those messages of @Appleblossom and her past memories when she first joined up to Sane Forums are all hitting me in the arm saying......yes, it happened and happens to her and yes....it's happening to you and you ....Peppermint Patty...you should have been more prepared.

@plasmo you cheeky lady, love the face. You have an interesting personaliy and looking forward to seeing more of you. My name is PP, we have met havent we?

@eth I'm wll, thanks .....you are doing good. I like that you ar preparing yourself for your peoplec coming by. I thought, I really thought that I lost my youngest son. But he's back, crashing in our study room, sharing it with my husbands real love, a huge big desk, lots of his junk and Arlo my dog sleeping outside his door hoping to get a cuddle from him.

Re: Night Shift

yeah i can't really say what the obsessive stuff is, which makes it so debilitating. i've realised tonight i've been low on vitamin b, so i've loaded up on vegemite and weetbix, feeling a lot more with it.

its not really work that i do, i just like to read up on things as part of a hobby

hi peppipatty not sure if we've met, unless you're on blueboard. i'm a guy tho, not that it makes a huge difference online

Re: Night Shift

Sorry I disappeared last night. My internet dropped out AGAIN! Had a couple of hours sleep and am awake and ready for the day already. Anyone out there? @PeppiPatty @plasmo @Appleblossom. When my internet dropped out I had just finished typing responses to PP and plasmo but I don't know how to retrieve drafts on this site and can't remember what I had said.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Shaz51

It was very humid last night - I did wake up and checked on it - it's unusally warm for late April

But I think we are in for a change - these was a big halo around the moon early in the night

I hope your day is as good as it can be
