Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Times are difficult...

My brother declines my bolts on Facebook, it seems he is a manager now

And my sister refuses to talk to me for being a 'weirdo', she graduates this semester.

All I want to do is write and have people read my blog

I suppose in that light my problems seem small, but I'm not a hungry poet either

Re: Night Shift

dear @BamBam
how are you ?
typical i wrote a long long message and accidently erased it.
I read your messahes and feel so sad that your brother and sister miss out on hanging out with you:

They wont play a spontaneous game of monopoly with you

They forget that sibling rivalry is only ; a fight to see who is loved the most by Mum
stay strong @BamBam
be yourself
im thinking good thoughts about you

Re: Night Shift

Thanks all...

Sorry to hear of everyone's struggles...

@Former-Member WOW you have almost completed a term back at work!! I'm sorry to hear you aren't coping, but you are amazing anyhow! I hope your son has a wonderful birthday & loves his bike.

Gosh, I feel useless... I don't only feel a burden to my partner ~ I feel like a burden to society... I feel like such a failure... I guess I keep health professionals in a job... So they can enjoy holidays... (Our holiday probably won't happen anymore...) Sigh... Achievements for the day: hot yoga, water & weed garden, shower... Hmm....

@PeppiPatty... I'm glad you value your husband so much ~ you say beautiful things about him. I wonder if I would get such a glowing review from my partner...?

@BamBam sorry to hear you don't have supportive, caring siblings.

@Jacques hugs...

Sorry everyone ~ I wish I could give more...

I'm not enough.

Namaste,

A

Dearest @Former-Member

Dear Anna

It feels like this:

You write.

You express yourself.

You keep yourself going around a stressful environment.

It might not feel like anything but in my eyes, it's very good. I LOVE how you write about exersise.

You have started a trend of people writing Namaste on Sane Forums.

We on Sane forums care about you, we value YOUR input.

That is enough.

Namaste.

Anne and Arlo

Re: Night Shift

@BamBam Tell us more about your interests, values and writing. (without compromising identity.)

Sibling judgements can be petty but very hurtful.

On the subject of monopoly. I so loved playing it with my little brother when he came back from his foster family, but I was hurt that he actually wanted to win more than play. I was just grateful we were together. I got used to letting others win as they seemed to want it that much. Also my daughter told me off, but by that stage my brain wasnt working too well, she could have been more grateful. Never mind.

I have known a few hungry poets .. I try to mix music and writing.

@Former-Member

I hear your sadness.

It seems unfair that some people are so full of themselves whereas others dont feel they are enough. Sometimes we mark time some times we take a step forward. Set the challenges you value. That is enough.

I know posturing is a defence mechanism and everybody has vulnerable moments. It is important not to put ourselves down but hold firm on our own intrinsic value.

I used to put myself down a lot and people would remark on it. I try not to do it anymore, may even come across too bolshie at times ... but at heart I am a wuss ... a softie.

Take care all ...

Hi @Former-Member

I'm happy you got to hot yoga thats great. keeping up that is going to be so important i think for you. And you weeded the garden!!! I think that is a pretty good day, keep noticing the achievements. There's no way to compare each other and no need to as we're all so different and different situations etc.

My work day ended pretty badly, but tomorrow is a new day. and then there's only thursday... phew

I hope that everything went ok today @PeppiPatty

hugs to all who need one

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Former-Member,

I know these thoughts well, i go through them myself every day, the feeling of worthlessness and dispair, but we all have something to offer society, for you and i it is ofering support and guadance on this forum, even though i can't speak for others, to me i value you as you are, you kind and caring nature always comes through in your writing on here, and you have helped me through many dark moments in my life.

As for your relationship, you and your partner hav been together for 12.5 years i think you have said, that is a long time and if you did not love each other it would not have lasted this long, sometimes we just need space from the ones we love, it does not mean we don't love them anymore it just means we need time to refocus on what is important.

Wishing you all the best my friend, keep your chin up, these thoughts and feelings will pass, your achievements should be celebrated @Former-Member, you do what you can, that is all anyone can do, please try not to be so hard on yourself, you are a wonderful person @Former-Member, thank you for just being you 🙂

Namaste

Re: Night Shift

Well @Appleblossom

I have very few interests outside of work, which makes me vulnerable. I hve enrolled in a therapeutic horticulture course but might not make that being where I am, so when needed I colour in. And mindfulness, just trying to avoid the mcdonaldisation aspect obviously.

Swimming is my exercise, I can swim 50m with a rest in between, my arms and legs are getting stronger.

I enjoy south-east Asian travel, but I want to go to Sweden to see how their saunas are.

@Former-Member well done on your long-term relationship. At that age I was editing movies for the student musical...
