Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @BamBam How are you? Are you studying still?

@Shaz51 and @PeppiPatty

Kate Atkinson sounds good ... thanks for the tip. I dont watch much on the box at the moment. Mostly use it as bonding relax time with my son and a bit of news. Never seen Underbelly ... am I really missing out? ... my son does not approve .. and its not something I care enough about to stand my ground. Every now and then I will watch a night of SBS.

We did some beatiful arias this evening after we got back from rehearsal AND ... he made the ravioli ... after the walk back from the station ... We have been working hard the last few months. His stamina is building up. At the beginning of February he was totally knackered from singing all day and the trip into town. Now he can cope with it in his stride and cook dinner. Thats what grown ups have to do. He was gong to ask for time out and then realised if he just did it quickly it would be done in 15 mins and then he could crash. My parenting style might be unusual ... but there may be method in my madness.

My regards to everybody on the forum. Its lovely to have a sense of a chat and catch up. People its ok to just "pop in".

Hi @BamBam, whats Girl Interuppted like? Ive never seen it.....today, my son showed me ' 12 Monkeys...Psychological thriller ........

Hi @Appleblossom quirky parenting is good parenting!! IT's for the individual !!

Im in the loungeroom....although I live right on the beach, it's still very.....warm here. Arlo is riddled with Fleas, he needs to get flea treatment tomorrow.

My youngest brother rang me from America tonight, We has a long chat, it was just great. He want to come tto Australia at the end of the year and pay for me to go to Sydney or Adelaide for a week. my husband won't come. ....yay but Ille feel very.....vulnerable.......

Now my middle brother want to see me tomorrow. Jeepers. He didnt come to my wedding nor call me when I was going through a really difficult time last year so I just dont know what to do.

Shall I just ...say no and give him those reasons??

Re: Night Shift

@Appleblossom I can't remember what I was studying! It may sound silly, but I would like to be a teacher some day. I can resume at social ecology and have the units for two key learning areas...

@PeppiPatty I switched off as soon as whoopi goldburg had to stop a fight, it was a nice movie -very mellow.

Re: Night Shift

Hi all...

@Appleblossom ~ sounds like your son is doing well. Wonderful!

I had a crappy day ~ headache & exhaustion. Spent most of the day in bed. I don't understand how other people can still go about thier days with a headache. Maybe I can't because I am a highly sensitive person. (which my old psychologist of 6 years & my new psychologist observed) ~ There is a website on it....

I'm so tired of life.... Birthday in a few days & almost mid 30's & what do I have to show for it?!

Namaste,

A
