Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Shaz51

What happened Last night on topic Tuesday? Cant belive I missed it again......

Giess what? My neighbour ws following us around the supermarket because she was hoping that we could give her anough money for some cigarrettes ( she does this all the time...give a pinch, ask for a handful...) I was daydreaming of smacking her on the bottom....Just once.........

we get home and was about to go to the beach with Arlo and guess who was writing a note outside our home? A Psychiatrist and his note taker,,,,,,,they told me...oh you had an appiontment this morning, I said...oh, I had no idea....but you came to my home....but your here......

They spent some time with me and I said that I had a wonderful Psycotherapist and they are talking about getting me on the better outcomes program........

I was saying, I did all the right things.....I paid for Psychotherapy for my two sons and myself, I paid for tutoring and got stronger and then.....it all comes crashing down when I realised how abusive my life was. Then both sons sexually abused by two different men different occasions.

Ive been put onto a moodstabilizer.....wchich I know nothing about. I cannot believe that they cared about me so much.

Re: Night Shift

It really says something that they showed up at your home @PeppiPatty. I hope the mood stabiliser works for you.

I am a bit fragile still. Tummy tied in knots and mouth pressed together and going in circles a bit, but still trying. Started sweet potato for a base for salad tonight. Doing little things but very low.

Son has productive things to do today and tomorrow.

Things are breaking down at home, no car, no vac, no phone, still have internet, weird. Some of the kids in the street have been wrecking the garden this week. Twice, they come up to me all cheery to my face and then play funny buggers breaking plants in the court. It makes me sad. I am very tired, but you know I really APPRECIATE you for actually asking.

Re: Night Shift

Dearest Apple,

Please dont feel anything but........

You are IMPORTANT. Can you get Silver Chain in or something?

I actually said that I get support from Sane Forums and he said he has heard that Sane Forums are really good. I said, yes they are moderated by some wonderful people.

Now back to me..

Whats this about kids smashing stuff in your garden?

My husband is jumping up and down saying tell Apple that he's a great Psychiartist I've seen him !!

Oh golly.

Re: Night Shift

Say Hi and thanks to Big Buddha.

I dont think we have silver chain in VIC. I am not good at getting govt support. I have survived by going it alone, mostly. I do ask for help but maybe not in way that gets it for me.

My CarersVic caseworker tok a month off in Jan and then is taking 2 months off now, after telling me I had a lot to be grateful for, when I was desperately telling her I was barely coping. It is not about my lack of gratitude. Oh wouldnt I like to be paid to say that to people and take time off as I need it.

I sent an email to the new contact ... not sure if she got it. I guess I can just dope up more ... but that makes me angry so I need more so it makes it a vicious circle.

Maybe I should call the CAT team on me ..and say I am no good as a carer and I am the one.

I wonder if my son will put out the rubbish tonight without me telling him ... it is the only thing he does ... but its not his fault .. its just me.

Re garden .. I live at the end of a court and there is council land and verges that back onto Board of works land. I have been making it into a garden since I moved here. it happens from time to time .. grownups dump worse stuff than kids ... and then other kids get the message that we should be looking after our environment and help their mums so it helps the locals. Its not on my land. I dont have much out the back.. si do the front.

Re: Night Shift

@Shaz51, love that photo of your cat! Mysterious portrait. She looks so zen. I am a cat person and love dogs too but we live in rental flats so no go on pets here. @Drac0, happy to see another cat pic from you too. I saw some of your other photos on another thread and they were great too. Yes, loving all the photos being posted here, @Jacques, @PeppiPatty.

@Former-Member, I can't believe you had to go through that kind of counselling session. What kind of therapist talks to a person like that? She was SO crappy.

@Appleblossom, sad to hear you are down and really struggling again at present. Good to see you around the forum. I'm in a low place too in my daily life. I appreciate that we don't have to hide it from each other here. Really hoping things turn around for you very soon. From what I have read of you over many months, I think you will start to come out of this again before too long. Same here too, I'm hoping.

@PeppiPatty, there is so much going on at your place. It sounds helpful that the psychiatrist turned up out of the blue. I've never heard of a psychiatrist who does house calls. I take mood stabilisers and have found them helpful. Hope they work out really well for you. I missed Topic Tuesday too and the wonderful @Shimmer was the special guest so I was especially sorry to miss this one. I just forgot about it and was sorry when I later saw it had already happened. Will be reading through the posts tonight. You can find it here if anyone missed it and wants to have a look. It's about Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Hi to everyone else who might be around too. Hope the evening treats you well.
