Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Hi @Shaz51

I'm sorry to hear that your son was told something nasty abotu you! Its so unfair on kids to have to deal with their parents inability to deal with life as it is. I have seen so many kids go through so much because of situations like that (my own! and kids i have taught).. I havent ever said anything bad about my ex to my kids though at times I have to bite my tongue. Kids are so much more 'in the present' than we are. we are worried about the future and the past and how things that peopleh have done could affect the present and the future and what not. Kids seem to be so much more forgiving, and are looking simply to be loved in the present I think. Glad that your son is ok now (sorry for the ramble!)

Re: Night Shift

Hope there's been some enjoyable times for everyone today. Been out since 11am and just got home not so long ago. Tired after a much longer day out of the flat than I'm used to.

@Appleblossom, congrats to you both on your son's scholarship! Thanks for thinking of me today. It went well at the shop for the second shift. Friendly, easy going exchanges with people for the most part except when I got nervous and tongue-tied a few times. And there was one grumpy customer, but it didn't faze me too much. Other volunteers were very nice and I get left alone to just do my job most of the time, which suits me. Over the course of the evening my mood has slumped a bit and some paranoia creeping around. But I'm okay, just riding the wave. Overall it's been a good day and easier on the mind and emotions than last week.

Re: Night Shift

@Mazarita Glad it went ok. I hope you enjoy the work and meeting new people.

I had a low energy peaceful day ... cuddled up with one of the cats... the one who is usually outside more. I did a little music, then in early evening pottered in garden. I guess that is how I regroup. It had been a big weekend, both days in CBD, and a big few months.

Hey @Former-Member how are you .. cats made me think of you ... hope you are ok?

@Former-Member

Did you hear about Hazlebrook Primary School in NSW choosing to supply school uniforms by certified Free Trade sources.

Not wanting to pressure you .. but thought you might be interested.

@Shaz51 you can change your title above the message box if you want to. I think @PeppiPatty typing went in the wrong section ...?

Hope everyone is doing ok today
