Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Hi @eth

I am good ... music this morning was good ... I missed early train but was only 15 mins late for rehearsal ... had a lovely lunch after and a CD launch ... it is a yearly event the choir does for all the old choristers ... there were 2 harps in the orchestra ... napped when I came home ... cooked dinner for son ... mushies, zucchini and salad ...

Re: Night Shift

Is there anyone online this later evening who feels like a chat? How's your day been? Plans for tomorrow? Anything else on your mind?

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Mazarita ,
Day was boring really which isn't a bad thing!
Tomorrow I have support worker early then psych appt then pick up lil one from kinder, then big girl after school before swimming.
How are you? Anything exciting planned?

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Former-Member. Cool that you can appreciate a boring day. Most of my days are pretty boring. Trying to get into better sleep and daily routine takes most of my focus. Mornings I don't do very well at all, sometimes takes me hours to start in on my daily plan. Was like that today but picked up speed over the day and got quite a lot done, for me. Tomorrow I have a physio appointment. Glad to know you are getting as much support as you can with psych and others.

Re: Night Shift

Yes, getting going in the mornings is a struggle for me too. I always feel as though I could sleep during the day !!
I need to do a daily plan I'm not keeping up with much at the moment. Oops!
🙂 when is your next psych appt, are you looking forward to it?

Re: Night Shift

I just feel like a feral beast in the morning with no energy and really heavy like I can't move. Best I can do is get on the computer when I'm like that. Some days are better. But at least I'm not staying awake until dawn and sleeping until dusk like I used to.

I think you are keeping up with heaps at the moment, there's a lot going on in your life and it seems you are managing amazingly well to me. It's so understandable how you are feeling at times.

My next psych appointment is about 3 weeks away but I'm now seeing a psychologist too every week for 10 weeks. That's coming up again on Friday and I am looking forward to it.

How often do you get to see your psych?

Re: Night Shift

Oh yes I always get confused with psychiatris and psychologist. I'm seeing psychologist fortnightly and I see the psychiatrist as often as everyone else in the team thinks I need to - hence 'seeing' him (on the telemed screen) on weds

Re: Night Shift

I'm not really doing anything other than scraping by and surviving 🙂 but I'm told that's enough right now.
