Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

I'd believe it is enough with everything that is going on for you. It must be frustrating not to be able to vent here about it at the moment. Are you able to write it out in a journal? I did some drawing and coloring today for the first time in a while. The psychiatrist happened to suggest it for me too when I was last there. I do feel better for it when I do it, even if only for that time and a bit of time afterwards. Every little good thing adds up into a better state of mind overall it seems.

Re: Night Shift

Yes that's true, putting the weight of life down for a few minutes at a time is important. I've been colouring a bit. I'm writing less even to my psychologist now, I'm just not sure if it's gotten me in more mess now court wise or not but its ok

Re: Night Shift

I can understand your fears about how confidential your records are now. I worry about that too at times and I don't have your reasons for it. Sounds like you are a bit easier in your mind about that than you have been at other times. One of my odd anxieties is about doctors writing to each other about me without letting me in on the conversation (my GP referral went straight to my psychiatrist, for example, same with the GP referral to the psychologist). Sometimes makes me feel a bit paranoid about what they are saying behind my back, as it were. I've mostly been able to self-talk my way out of that but every now and then I get bothered.

Oh yes I worry about that too always think they lie to me but tell each other the awful truth about me ... but this last year has kind of shown me that it's out of my control and far too late for damage control lol so now I'm just trying to make the best decisions, uses of the help I have to keep me and kids safe

Re: Night Shift

Avoiding worry about what can't be changed is a good idea. Sounds like some of the crucial housing questions have been decided for now. Seems good that you are getting to have some less stressful, even boring, days sometimes.

Re: Night Shift

I'm going to be boring now and get myself into bed. Thanks for the chat tonight, @Former-Member. Virtual hugs (if you want) and hope you get some quality sleep.

Re: Night Shift

Cheers @Former-Member. I missed my physio appointment due to being unable to stop crying for a little while this morning. Feeling much more cheerful and relieved now that the emotions have had a release. Already managed a bit of exercise bike. Looking forward to other small activities over the rest of the day. Hope your appointments today are really helpful and you get to breathe easy.

Re: Night Shift

Hi mazarita sorry to hear your morning wasn't great and you missed physio but awesome work on getting back on track for the rest of the day!! It's really hard to do that. Sometimes I just give up on days like that!
My appt this morning was good - I feel kind of hopeful and have been offered a job for next year - however old doubts are creeping up tonight... Too many things going right always seem to mean something equally or worse bad are going to happen. But we will see.. Now see if psychiatrist will give me clearance...

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Former-Member

Congratulations on the job offer! It's great just being offered a job even when you are not yet sure if you can take it. Glad your morning appointment went well too yesterday. I'm having another slow start today but I'll start in on the activity plan soon I hope... Hope your day has some good moments.
