Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

@PeppiPatty, I directed those thoughts at you but not because I think you need to hear them, just that I was off on one of my little rambles again. I have been thinking about that for a while though. I have really learned some things from you about being a 'proud consumer' but I also think it's important (for me) not to treat my mental health supports as objects that are just in this world for me alone. Woops, there I go rambling again, hehe...

Re: Night Shift

....You have helped me so much too.

you've taught me...the battered and middle aged how to be more compassionate......I have squirrels of compassion but didn't know how to write or express it.

With how you write......

@Mazarita

The children and their parents have gone home so the daughter starts school.

can you not talk about the gorgeous children again......My heart went in the car with them. Now I'lle need to start dreaming that Ille meet a family with children around here.............lol lol

Re: Night Shift

You do NOT ramble @Mazarita.

You are careful about your communication with others and reflective and honest and adjust to meet others where they are at. I doubt you completely change in relationship with your MH workers.

This is still a great sisterhood.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @PeppiPatty, I did get a gift for my support worker last year. I guess I was thinking about my psychologist especially, who I have had a much harder time with. That means it's harder for me to be human about him. Trying to remind myself, I guess, by writing it. Thanks for listening to me 'talk out loud' here to myself sometimes...

@Mazarita@PeppiPatty@Appleblossom@Former-Member@Jacques

I am sorry to say it but the employment discussions merely reinforce unpleasant stereotypes of people with mental illnesses and I will not be participating in them anymore.

Re: Night Shift

I hear you @Mazarita about legal eagle tendencies.

Nowadays I am less impressed by the industry. I sift and try to check whether they are social justice lawyers or corporate types ... sorry to be bigoted .. but experiences has shown me that the latter are "mostly" into money or scamming. It would be hard to stay honest in that industry and I wish all the best to those who try.

Re: Night Shift

@PeppiPatty J Kristeva's Black Sun was useful when I was writing my thesis on grief.

And yes "Giving a Damn" makes a lot of difference.
