Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Dear @Mazarita

But this time @Mazarita Im thinking of getting support of who can get me through this. I have identified what is about, my youngest brother will not speak to her because of this and I've been joking around with this for a couple of years...thiking of only the positives.

Im not quite sure what to do because I cannot bear for her to be still ripping me around.

In my life, I just decided to just act like me.

Re: Night Shift

That sounds great @Terry , i hope that that really helps with how you feel in general. Sounds like you are really taking charge of looking after yourself

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member it's ok. it's my spiritual life that has to grow. i'd been on the wrong path for a long time. it actually wasn't so much of a path, as a party. but 'fun' is not 'happiness'.

Re: Night Shift

Heya @PeppiPatty

I'm sorry that your mum is so hard...I can tell you that my life is much better without my mum a part of it. I dont have to worry about when she'll calll/ or worse turn up, how she's going to put me or the kids down, whether she's going to be viciuos or just be nice to get somethign off of me.

I do think about her sometimes, but i know that she could never be someone healthy in my life, though there are times i wish ihad a 'mum'... but she cuold never be the 'mum' that i imagine or need anyway.

Your mum has done a lot of harm to you with the things she does, and im glad that you have decided to be you because you are wonderful,

hugs

Re: Night Shift

@Former-Member you're lucky to have lovely children. i possibly can still have children but i'm getting old. i have lots of nieces and nephews all over the place 'tho, but haven't seen anyone much for a while. i'm lucky that my friends are still talking to me as i treated most of them as if they were at my beck and call. i'm one very lucky bunny rabbit to have survived what i've been through and what i've put myself through.

everyone seems to have gone. i guess i will catch you all later x

Re: Night Shift

@PeppiPatty,

I'm just thinking about this as I respond to you. I think the main thing just now may be not to have contact until you feel more peaceful in yourself. If you can, try not to obsess about it, though I know that can sometimes seem impossible. Is it possible to see your new friend completely separately to your mother? It sounds like she has an interest in you and may be open to that. Even though your mum may be saying things about you, that doesn't mean that the friend will believe everything she's told. She may know your mother quite well herself and be a wise woman in that way. I'm hoping something like that might be the case. If not, you may just need to let the connection with her go for the time being too, since it may be connecting you with your mother at a time when that's not in your best interests. I may be wrong about all this and off the mark, just trying to understand what might be happening with you and what could be possible for your wellbeing. I wonder if you are seeing your GP or other therapist at the moment. Sounds like things are difficult enough to warrant talking to one of your 'real life' supports about it as well as us here. I think you said you have a psychotherapist that you like to see. Is that still happening? Sending hugs.

Hi @Terry, haven't been able to keep up with the pace of the thread and I'm about to hit the hay. Glad you are finding a space here to open up more about the personal struggles day to day. I relate to a lot of what you say about fun and friends and acting like a child and isolation. I too am lucky in so many ways.

Sleep well everyone.
