Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

Re: Night Shift

Hi dear @PeppiPatty,

Would it be possible to sit your mother down and set clear boundries? i know my parents did that with my grandparents, they where told if they crossed the line on speaking down to the inlaws, my parents would just walk out and go home. and did so on many occasions

Do you think you could do that with your mum? it is hard, but she needs to understand how it is affecting your health, some people put others down without realising they are doing it. your Hubby is a wonderful support, please listen to him.

My thoughts and well wishes are with you my friend.

Jacques

Re: Night Shift

@PeppiPatty i hate to say it, but she's probably not going to change. change your own behaviour instead - limit contact is my advice.

Re: Night Shift

the girl is here. ....Thats you @chookmojo
how is your husband and

your work

and the chooks ?

my mum is giving me huge grief
but husband is gorgeous .... he is supporting me the best he can. He says a lot of .....dissmissive things....we can work around them though by me just not criticising but being quiet.

im going to visit a friend for support today
about writing mum a letter

On another note;

i was wracking the ol' archives up in my head
and thought that your very cool way of dealing with
excessive triggering may help someone called @Terry on the @nightshift thread.
also ; if you felt like it .....

if you could give me a simple exercise for me.
ps
good to see you. How are you ? from Anne xx

Hi @Terry, It is fun trying to take a closeup photo while they are still on the branch , have to be very quite and patient

Re: Night Shift

Hello @PeppiPatty, @Mazarita, @Terry, @chookmojo, @Jacques,

It takes a lot of patience and timing is the important thing -- doing the photos early in the morning as the dragonflies are slower, once they get warmed from the sun , they move quicker

Re: Night Shift

So happy to write to my friends.. @chookmojo @Jacques @Mazarita @Shaz51 @Terry

@lisajane and @Billamba @MoonGal

Did I send you a message this morning @chookmojo ?? I hope so....

Today, I went to see my friend to get some support re; my Mum and her behaviour. I also asked Mum not to go too much into that my Dad stole my home.

We sorted it out ...phew. My friend said that my problems is that I give her too much and she and my Dad both are severe narcassists.... I need to get my own power and hold onto it and stop giveing them stuff to think that I'm going to placate them......

She said I've got to stop being so attached to my Mum but it will take time.

Because they use it to intefere with me and so; she helped me to write Mum

I wrote her:

Hi Mum,

Somebody else wants me to show her some artwork Im doing on Monday so I wont be able to make it on Monday to meet with XX and you.

You and XX have a great time.

Im sorry I tried to control what for you to say to XX.

YOu say whatever you want.

(your both adults)

Much Love Anne

All your messages have been so loving and caring thanks......xx
