Night Shift

Night Shift

Since I am awake at 4am I thought I'd start this thread for those of us who have trouble sleeping and might find it helpful to have a place to go to chat. Whatever gets you through the night is alright.

To get the ball rolling, I'll just say that I enjoyed being part of the Topic Tuesday discussion tonight. I wish it was possible for these events to be weekly rather than monthly. Either way, thanks SANE and all the people I've met on here over recent months.

Edited June 2016 and February 2017: Night Shift is now open 24 hours a day. To join in, just click through to the last page of the thread at the top right of this post to get to the latest message.

Edited April 2017 and June 2017: For the sake of better communications between members here, I am adding that this thread is meant to be a caring, kind and gentle place of sharing. Humour is welcome, as long as its not unkindly directed towards other members. Hope your time in this chat thread is rewarding.

I can't use Champix either. Interesting about your reaction to the patches. Will keep an eye on it if I use them.

My nearest and dearest all travel the world as able, but I am an armchair traveller. I am claustrophobic and tend tobe easily irritable which is problematic when travelling. These days, my income is more limited, though I am saddened to realise I shall never go to Zanzibar, republic of Georgia, Iceland. I shall never walk in the Appalachians, Patagonia, St James Pilgrimage or Rome

As a nurse, I found on the day shift you were regarded as a general hand, the afternoon shift a depository of doctors orders, and the night shift......the right hand of God!

do you guys find you empathise with vampires when leaving work and you feel the sunlight boil your red eyes?

I would have thought Nov. 2 would be the Day of the Dead in Mexico having a Catholic history. Nov . 1 is All Saints Day, and Haloween was from pre Christian times when at this part of year, the veil between life and afterlife was very thin in a sense. The trick or treat is more modern, and very commercialised.

Hi @Neb,

My overseas travel days seem over too but I've been surprised by life's twists and turns more than once so I won't rule it out. Armchair travel is at least an easygoing way of doing it and with the computer as well these days the possibilities are wide. I'm not working for now but I have been known to occasionally empathise with vampires and have felt the red hot eyes syndrome, for sure.

Re: Night Shift

Just a quiet day for me. Some nice sleep earlier (not too much) and a visit with my neighbours 2 doors down this afternoon. A lovely Greek/Egyptian family. The Mum was baking lots of stuff to take to her Aunty's funeral tomorrow. I got to hold the 3 month old baby and give her a feed and a cuddle. Loved it!

What have you been up to?
