Here is a passage from Patricia Deegan Conspiracy of Hope

Recovery does not refer to an end result. It does not mean that one is cured nor does it mean that one is simply

stabilised or maintained in the community. Recovery often involves a transformation of the self wherin one both

accepts ones's limitation and discovers a new world of possibilty's-recovery is a way of life. It is an attitude and a way of approaching the day's challenges.

storm the bastille! keel-haul the buggers! Normal is passe and MI is the new black!

Nb. I hope you are ok, stan. i think any part of the body can regenerate. I read recently that we will be able to grow new teeth soon. The heart can improve and strengthen. Get off those meds and sack your shrink - shrinks can't really afford to care. kick your gp up the khyber pass to get him/her onto your case and helping you!

Re: well.

@stan I can well understand that dropping to half the dose for a while could the wisest way to go before you properly decide what to do about it long term ... there body health issues and legal issues.

As the population density and infrastructure has been higher in the States than here for some time .. they often have more progressive set ups for managing these kinds of issues ... and then the lawyers try to close the loop-holes.

You know he cant tell you @Terry or he would be breaking forum guidelines ... but I am glad he has let us know his predicament. it is important that the field becomes better informed ... too much compartmentalised thinking between medicos and psych majors can have dreadful consequences for we poor guinea pigs. Thanks both of you.

Re: well.

He should be off that med altogether, in my opinion. The shrinks can't afford to care - don't trust them. Unfortunately.

Re: well.

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear about your predicament @stan. It sounds worrying and stressful.

Please remember that not all medication and psych's are 'bad' people. Applying labels to a group (e.g., psych's) of people (assuming that they are all terrible) is just like stigmatising all people with MH issues.

Medication is tricky, and it definitely important to be informed. While some meds have nasty side effects, quitting medication can also be harmful. I understand that it's a bit of a double edged sword here, but what I'm trying to get across is that before you make any decisions seek professional opinion. Perhaps seek a second opinion, like Terry mentioned, maybe go to a GP. Or is it possible to ask your psych what your options are? What are the side effects if you quit these meds etc?

I also like to remind people on here, that while it is ok to give opinions, there are differences between facts. In the community guidelines we ask people to not provide information or write content that could be interpretted as medical advice. Please be mindful of this when commenting on someone's treatment plans.

Re: well.

hi cherry bomb, thanks for your message. i am having more tests tomorrow and being refered onto a specialist cardiologist for further investigation.

at this stage i have written to my gp, consultant and the chief exec of the hospital to express my concerns regarding the med, and my health care.

Re: well.

Totally understand and agree re posters giving 'medical advice', although it is still up to the individual reading the advice whether they take it or not. Obviously, they will probably be aware that other advice-giving posters are not doctors.

As for shrinks, they are working for a compulsory system that abuses and is violent towards their clients. I am sure they are not completely evil (a 'bad' person) but clearly they cannot afford to actually care about their clients under these circumstances, although a lot of them try to. Eventually working for the mental health system will corrupt and/or break a person.
