Re: Taking the plunge

Wow looks like you guys got started really early this morning - or was it late last night?! @Maggie @Teej @Zoe7 @Former-Member @outlander @CheerBear hope today is starting gently and that some of you are getting a little more shut-eye.

@CheerBear if you're unwell I really hope you feel better soon and at least can take some symptomatic relief to get through all that you do daily.

@Teej It's wonderful to hear you are feeling a lot better. When I'm feeling too challenged by life I usually revert to the basics of adulting too. I'm sure you'll be able to continue your studies down the track a bit. Getting into a routine with self-care is a really good way to get started again. Said she ... I actually had a shower and washed my hair yesterday. It's quite a while since I did that. Sounds awful but I do keep myself 'tidy' - wet wipes and top and tailing and showering twice on water tai chi days. That's enough confessions ... just know that you aren't alone in your efforts.

That's a coffee for me thanks @Maggie

s to all here xx

Re: Taking the plunge

I am super sad, stressed, tired and overwhelmed @Maggie. It's all feeling too hard and too big - everything everywhere. Physically, aside from headaches, I'm much better though. We had a whole day and well into the evening with Middle yesterday and by the end of it we were both teary and wrecked. More x-rays last night, another appt on Saturday and another on Monday to come. My Dr told me to stay away from unwell and well people for a while which I knew anyway but it hurt. They're on their own and I feel very far away from them.

I am really struggling with what's going on out in the world. I'm struggling with the way people are dealing with it. I'm struggling with the fear, the aggression, the confusion and the selfishness. It's miserable. I feel miserable. I want to time out from everything for a while.

We're at home as a precaution following the actions of an incredibly thoughtless person yesterday. Like all other parents I'm waiting for schools to close anyway so today we will plan for how we as a little family will keep some routine and some learning going if/when that happens. I'll try and make it fun and am looking at it as an opportunity for quality together time. Reality is that time off school at the best of times is a huge challenge for me.

I've done exactly what I didn't want to do and vent posted 🙁 I just wanted to let you know I'm still keeping on keeping on though and thank you for caring. I imagine you might have some tricky happening too and am thinking of you lots.

@Former-Member it was so good to hear from you. You've been missed and thought of. @eth, @Teej and @outlander thanks for your hi's too and hugs for you too.

Sending huge ❤ to all out there 🌈

Re: Taking the plunge

Decision day today @eth . We are booked to fly to Perth very early Thurs. A family wedding (hubbys niece) plus visit 94yo FIL and a BIL who remains in hospital after being admitted nearly 6 months ago. So an important visit for hubby. But with all the restrictions on movement due to COVID-19 and likelihood of further restrictions to come. Probably wont be able to visit FIL in nursing home anyway. And hubbys health incl mobility has been declining again. What if we get stranded away from home? I just dont think its a sensible thing to go ahead with. I was dreading it anyway, as hubby is so damn difficult to travel with, even at the best of times. So many meds, some needing refrigeration, some restricted, etc etc. So this morning I am going to try my best to convince him we need to defer our visit. Sad to miss happy occasion of wedding. But maybe by weekend gatherings of 500 could be reduced to 50 anyway.Thats happened in the USA I think. Wedding may not go ahead in that case. So many questions. At least airline are permitting free cancelation with credit to be used at a later date.

Sigh .. also need to go out to chemist to top up hubbys many scripts. Need them, regardless of trip. Bit concerned about shortages. Some of these meds are keeping him alive, he would die without them.

Should hear today too if my volunteer nursing hime visits here are to be canned, with likely new restrictions to come into being.

Re: Taking the plunge

Love and hugs @CheerBear ..... 💜🌷🌈 ...., feeling for you.

My D2 is as vulnerable as the elderly. WH has agreed to help self-isolate her (🙏) and I have made the tough decision to not travel west to visit my older baby dragons, which is really hard because of stuff that is going on for them over there ..... and my family (dad, sibs) are that way too.

Very pleased to see shopping support happening around the elderly now with the "senior hour" shopping. Hopefully we will see more community spirit start to step up.

Will be thinking of you as I make alternate study arrrangements around D2 as well. Hope it works well for your kids and you.

One strategy I used for my big family growing up was that their bedroom could become a self-governed time-out zone, and mine too, with the addition of a blue-racked sign in the door - it enables "space within the space" when being clumped together for long periods of time starts to turn things a bit fractious. If it's not one you use already, I hope it helps.

Another take on that is to assign a "rest time" after lunch for an hour or two of down-time in bedrooms, with quiet reading or other activity. That can happen in communal areas if it suits, with "library voices" and a thought of not disturbing someone else's "quiet time" bubble.

These are patterns my big ones still naturally follow in an unsaid sort of way.

💜

@CheerBear You can always come here and say exactly how you are. I’m so sorry things are so tough, on what looks like, every possible level. You are not getting a break.

I’m struggling with what’s going on in the world also @CheerBear . Aggression and selfishness, it’s scary, it really is.

I hope time off school goes as good as can be expected. Another sigh and lots of 💜💜💜💙💙💙

Yes @CheerBear lots of tricky happening here, isn’t it always. :pile_of_poo::pile_of_poo::pile_of_poo::pile_of_poo::pile_of_poo:

Sending thoughts your way. Lots of 💜💜💙💙💜💜💙💙☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️

There is never pressure to reply. I just don’t want to be annoying. Thoughts are often with you. 💚💚💚
