Re: Taking the plunge
Hi @Maggie. Yes you're right I typically sleep very badly, and often not at all. Hubby was feeling a little better by dinner time so he had the BBQ and veges, so all good. Yes I do love him, despite the fact that he has often treated me badly. I guess he cant really help the way he is, ie narcissistic in nature and abusive when drunk. Thankfully he has reduced his drinking very slightly the past week, which is a relief. I think it hit him pretty hard while in hospital for his recent operation and he went through alcohol withdrawal. I guess he finally realised that the does have a drinking problem? And also the oncology nurse said that if he continues to drink 6-10+ drinks every day which is his norm, that the efficiency of the anti-cancer drugs will be reduced. So I am proud of him for at least trying to reduce his intake. I know it is incredibly hard for him. I also know he is feeling extremely vulnerable at present as a result of his recent diagnoses.
Yes I am very lucky indeed with my psych. She is the principal, and owner, of the firm she is at. And she employs about 8 other psychs. So I guess that being the boss, she can 'make things happen' as she said to me. I think she does care, and I very much appreciate that. But more importantly, she is also very good at her job and is well respected in her field of expertise. Luckily for me that includes trauma, PTSD therapies, and pain management. Its for pain management that I was initially referred to her some 5 years ago.
31C is hot Maggie, and I know I really feel the heat myself, so sympathise with your Tasmanians. I know we will get our own share of heat soon enough, but for now I am really appreciating the milder weather.
Thanks for those 'warm thoughts' by the way. It would be nice to be able to distribute some weather warmth to those who really like it wouldnt it? And leave the cooler days to those of us who like it.
Not much happening today, just a quiet day watching some cricket probably. The first Ashes Test is on as of yesterday, up in Brisbane. I hope the weather remains fine up there from now on. We already lost some time yesterday due to rain. Hubby and I watched some cricket on tele while he was undergoing treatment in hospital yesterday. It helped to while away a couple of hours. I know many people find cricket boring, but I love it.
Okay everyone who frequents this thread of Maggies, I hope you all have a lovely day. @Former-Member @Bunniekins @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member and anyone else I've forgotten.

Re: Taking the plunge
Thanks @Bunniekins. Yes Holly is a beautiful little dog, the absolute best. Both hubby and I consider ourselves lucky indeed to have her. And we can across her quite by accident. She had been in a home where she was badly treated and abused poor little thing. She was 8 months old when we got her, and she will turn 9 on Christmas day this year. She does have the cutest perky little face doesnt she? Yes we love our little girl. She also comes with me sometimes when I visit the nursing home as part of my volunteer duties. The residents love her and she is very well behaved. Just a very gentle, loving, well behaved, 5kg ball of energy and enthusiasm.
Thanks for your wishes for a wonderful day, I wish the same for you. ![]()

Re: Taking the plunge
Good morning @Maggie
How are you this morning. That's terrible how your GP overlooked your proper medical care for your broken nose all this time with no x-ray??? That is puzzling 🤔 Especially given you told her you have trouble breathing through it as that should of been the first line of action with GPs - not good. Has she done anything like this before? She may be going through a difficult time herself or burnt out. When will you know if surgery is required or not? My poor Maggie.
I had to take something for sleep last night - I just woke up!! I really needed to catch up as running on 4 hours for so many nights on high energy I was starting to wear and depression hits then - so I do feel better for it. Today I will be cleaning the house in preparation for my brothers visit. That will be full on - he loves to talk and rave a little and to go out somewhere on the Sunday. Problem is with his illness when we are in a crowded place or similar he gets paranoid and starts to act like it. But I do feel for him so and we try and make sure he has a good time. He has no friends to go out with or partner at 42. It's really sad. So I make the effort even though I don't feel up to it.
Next week my male friend will be having three days of tests/biopsies to learn the extent of his cancer. I will try to be there for them as much as possible. And then my husband has to have further tests....Would you believe they put the epidural back injection in the wrong place? He has to have it again next Friday and we have to go through it all again.
It would be lovely to have a break from it all. So we may just head down to Tassie soon - my husband really wants to go. Sounds a bit hot at the moment - 31 degrees is hotter than up on the Northern beaches presently. What's the best time of year to visit Tasmania where it is also not very cold or windy? Do you get windy periods? And yes, we will bring a big suitcase too 😉 Who knows - me and hubby have moved around the country a lot and can chose to live where we want. We are lucky that way. It is beautiful also up here on the coast as well but it is very populated - I like peace and bush acres where maintenance is low. Is there good hospitals/specialists/medical where you are? That's a must for hubby.
Please stay cool and take care not to overheat in these hot periods. I hope a cool change will break up the rising temps for you all there soon. This happened here. We were having similar hot days in October but then a change cooled things down.
How is your garden holding up to the heat? I find mulching helps mine to keep moist and thriving.
Looking forward to the girls night in, just tag me and I will jump in 😃 Have a wonderful day my friend - so good to see you feeling better again ❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜🌹xx
Hi @Former-Member - how are you going? Hope you have had a chance to rest and recharge. Thinking of you.

💙❤💚💛💜💗💟💕
Hearing from you all encourages me to say something, even if it's just "hello".
Was shocked and sad ti read about your nose Maggie. It's awful that the doctor didn't listen to you.
I've haven't had any luck with GP's. Very disappointed in my current one. I only go if I really have to.
D has more tests next month.
The rain has stopped and I've been able to get washing dried.
Today it's been a whole week since I've been out, apart from hanging washing.
You'd think I would feel better for it, but today
I woke with flu symptoms. What the heck!
I'm going to try and distract myself because it's ridiculous.
I'm trying to remember who wrote what. 😮
So pleased that the tumour has disappeared Enigma. ❤ that's fantastic news. My faith used to be strong.
That's so good that you've kept your faith throughout everything.
You're a lovely kind wife to have Sherry. Being there for hubby despite how he has treated you. Being so unwell, it would be difficult not to be, I guess. You are stronger than you realize.
I hope you are feeling ok mohill. Any plans for the weekend?
I'm still in bed. Just about to have my second cuppa and washing is on.

Re: Taking the plunge
So good to hear from you @Former-Member ! Always lovely to get a mention from you. Thank you for thinking of me too as that means a lot to me.
Yes it is great news about my husband's tumour. My husband also has a very positive outlook and lifestyle that's opens him up to healing. My faith has been rocked at times - I can understand this only too well - it is ultimately what sees me through those really dark times when miracles shine through. When prayers are answered it strengthens me renewing hope. Life is still hard but that light of hope keeps me going and achieving.
Sorry to read you are feeling sick. Distraction is good - always makes my day better otherwise I can dwell on things too much. Also take it easy today my friend and rest. Know we are here for you whenever you need to talk. How is your daughter going? I am going to have a cuppa now with you ☕️ xx

Re: Taking the plunge
You also have so much going on. No wonder you need a holiday. I think Tasmania is a perfect holiday destination. Although I haven't been there for 27 years - I still have great memories. I went in March. Warm on the north of the island and the east coast. Cold on the southern end.

Re: Taking the plunge
D will be home tomorrow.
I've missed her so much.
Made me realize how much time I spend with her. I've made her my life.
I haven't even been to shops . I usually go with her.
It's good for her to go away without me.
Shows me that she can survive and cope well without me. I'm glad that she can.
I have to ve careful not to warp her in cotton wool. Not good to do that, just because of my past traumas. I can only guide her.
She hurt her other foot while away. Thankfully it's ok. Gosh!
Is ut tomorrow your brother us coming?
