Re: Taking the plunge

Thanks @Former-Member. Yes it is hard waiting in hospitals. But its quite a nice setup really, and you even have access to a lovely courtyard area outside. Plus a kitchen area to make a cuppa, some biscuits and even some cheese and crackers for the carers. So its made to be as comfortable and bearable as possible under the often difficult circumstances.

As for the after effects, they could crop up any time unfortunately, possibly even months in advance. So we just dont know. Yes hubby is resting now. I am watching some cricket on tele, with the first test having started today in Brisbane. Sadly I dont think I'll be doing any partying today or tonight though.

@Maggie @Former-Member @Former-Member @Bunniekins @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member One piece of good news I got while away at the hospital is that I got an email from my psych. You may recall I mentioned I had finally bitten the bullet and phoned to make a long awaited appointment with my psych a couple of days ago? When I spoke to her office the first available appointment was on 13th December, 3 weeks away, which I took. My psych found out and emailed me today to bring my apt forward to 1st December, only a week away. Yay! 3 weeks felt like such a long way off, so I'm grateful.

Re: Taking the plunge

@Former-Member It's after @Former-Member has her busy week end, just a low key face mask beer chat really not a party as there is a special thread for parties.

I hope you manage to enjoy the meal and maybe the Christmas spirit will see the conversation geared elsewhere. Thinking of you as I can only imagine how hard this is for you.

@Former-Member thinking of you, hoping you are doing okish.

Re: Taking the plunge

hello @Former-Member

How are you feeling now?

There has been a horrible virus hanging around this year....lasts for over a month....just drains all energy and motivation....us people with mental health symptoms do not need any more aggravation in that area...

I would think that most people using these forums have been upset in one way or another whilst feeling fragile...most times not even aware that they are so fragile...so many of us soldier on....put our feelings aside as we get through each day....trying to keep up with usual activities....careers...caring etc..

I have been there myself....I have also had people upset many times from my posts...adding more to my already low self-esteem....not understanding why I was struggling to put my thoughts into words on here..

then I realised that I usually write as the thoughts flow....I do not stop and think hmmm what shall I say..

hence much rambling and great lengthy responses..

I can hear you yawning....

so thank you from myself and all of us on here for stopping by and leaving such a thoughtful ...tender gift....

please be gentle with yourself and do not be annoyed or embarrassed....all part of feelings...we need to acknowledge our feelings even when we do not like them....all part of our journey to recovery...

take care

come back and visit often...I know that you will be more than welcome...

@Maggie started this thread and her beautiful soul will openly invite you to stay...

Re: Taking the plunge

Hi @Maggie, yes that sounds good. I'm not really a beer drinker, but I'm sure the blokes will be happy. I am more of a scotch and soda girl. Or a glass or two of wine, either red or white, just not sweet.

Now a bubble bath sounds devine, complete with candles and insense. Very extravagent. I did get takeaway of sorts. I got a BBQ Chicken. If hubby feels up to it I will roast some potatos and steam some greens. If he doesnt feel up to it, he may like some chicken soup. Either way its easy.

As for the aches and pains, you're right, I do have a few of those. My back pain is bad at present, with lots of associated nerve pain. Sitting or standing around for hours on end doesnt help much at all. Very tired and sore as a result. I think I need a rack to be stretched out a bit. A bit of traction sometimes helps.

Thanks for the warm thoughts Maggie. Holly is taking good care of both hubby and myself, sharing herself around very dutifully. They know, dont they, when their human 'pets' are feeling under par.

@Former-Member There is no need to go ... you are very well liked here. Everyone like Bella. It would be very boring without you Bella. Green Pea never lies.

Re: Taking the plunge

Hi @Maggie

Yes indeed - count me in onnthe girls online night out! When you are ready after the weekend please tag me and I will jump on as quick as possible. It should fun - I could do with some facial pampering lol

Ouch!!! - a broken nose, that would be painful. Hopefully won't affect your sinuses. You are one tough cookie, I would be yelping! Let us know the results of your doc appt.

I am surprised to read Tasmania has hit such highs already - is that unseasonal? Normal for here. Please take care in the heat and stay cool as a cucumber.

My daughter is vegan too - although I add some fish and chicken I am not a big meat eater and am liking this change in diet. I saw a programme on Netflix called "Outback" that showed towns in Tasmania. One was Queenstown and the other Singlet or something similar. WOW! How green and lush - and the flowering trees and plants were breathtaking. Just a beautiful part of the world. Visiting there is on mine and hubby's bucket list. It's a lifestyle and environment we could quickly become accustomed to - who knows, may just end up staying there. Although our daughter and charity work ties us here.

Great news that your BP has normalised so quickly and we're able to do some activities - it's a great feeling.

Thank you for your offer of support and friendship - so comforting and uplifting to know it's there. Am here for you too anytime ❤️xx

@Former-Member - it is hard to watch friends and loved ones suffer. Thinking of you also 🌹💜❤️💜❤️.

@Former-Member - great news about the earlier psych appt - I too thought 3 weeks was a bit too long a wait with what you are going through. Your psych sounds really caring, you are lucky. Hope hubby side effects are not too harsh - can he take meds for it? I was pleased to read there were some nice relaxing spots in the hospital making things a little easier. How long does the chemo treatment go for?

@Former-Member - sorry to read that you have been ill. Hope you feel better soon. It would be so lovely to have your presence here on this thread 💕

Re: Taking the plunge

@Former-Member I liked the way you said " they know how their human pets are don't they" how true is that. I hope you managed some sleep last night, as I know you don't sleep well mostly, and did a little self care????

Whatever hubby decided on for tea, it sounded lovely. You are so good to your man @Former-Member you obviously love him very much.

I sympathise with the aches and pains while sitting around hospital. My last visit to the specialist clinic a few weeks ago and a two Hr wait ( an improvement) made my body ache and I don't have a back injury as you do, just left over nursing injuries.

I am soooooooo thrilled you are seeing your psych on the 1 Dec. she cares about you very much. A treasure to find therapists like that, such a huge part of the healing process I find.

We are headed for 31 here today and tomorrow, mans the coming week is in the high 20s. Really hard her for people as we are no prepared for heat like this, not even mid summer. I have the sprinkler going atm, before the full force hits. Sending warm thoughts your way ( in more ways than one ). 💜💜💞

Re: Taking the plunge

@Former-Member It's not that I'm a tough cookie, I'm a bit confused as why it's taken the dr three mths to do an X-ray and find out it's broken ( the nose ). I've been telling her for mths I can't breath through it and sound like I have a heavy cold all the time. Oh well, now I guess they will re break it, something to look forward to !!!!!!!

Love the face make pics. I have three, so one the night you can choose between yourselves which one to use.

@Former-Member Tassie is a beautiful state. I personally think we have it all ( sorry mainlanders ). If you love nature scenary sunrises, though I have seen some on the mainland that are spectacular. I think many have come for a visit and decided to stay. Pack a big bag when you come, just in case !!!😐😐😍😍

Headed for a hot hot week and we are over it down here. Hottest November on record, 31 today and tomorrow, I might move interstate😀😀😀

Im guessing prep for a busy weekend ahead is on your agenda today. Put some loud music on and dance while vacuuming, keeps the neighbours guessing. Thinking of you.💜💜

@Former-Member I see you ticking in the background. I really hope you are ok. I know how hard it is to talk when down this low and you don't have to. Just know we are thinking of you hoping when D returns, some joy, no matter how small, will return. 💕💕💕💔💔💔

@Former-Member You are probably drained dry after last nights effort. Good on you for doing that, it's huge. Relax today and recharge your batteries. We are all sending warm thoughts.💗💗💗💖💖💖
