Re: Taking the plunge
@Gazza75 I second what @Former-Member has said. Travelling at this time would be helpful for everyone, yourself included there.
I guess so much being burned won’t make for picturesque scenery, but definitely history.
Take care ❤️💙

Re: Taking the plunge
Hey @Former-Member , yeah I know that the rain isn't ideal for the fireys and there backburning efforts.. Still, hopefully it might slow down the major ones in a few areas. We need 25mm and got 15, but, hoping other places got enough to make a difference. 🙂
I know its been really tough for communities. I feel the most for people that don't know if they have a home or not. An old work friend is kind of in that position. He was told to evacuate on Sunday evening and hasn't been able to get back.
You are on the money with it being diffucult with the roads, heat, spot fires and so on. Not sure if you know that I work for an insurance comp, they are going to match all employee donations to the appeals.. its something they have done regularly in the past a well. I feel pretty proud of who I work for on occasion 🙂
I have been thinking about you.. not really sure what to advise or suggest in regards to your PTSD thread/reply, but, would encourage you to try and get some sunshine when you can and to try and stay active. I need to practivce what I preach as I've been a bit of a slacker the last few days myself. Struggling to find my mojo and motivation. Hard to shake off the feeling of dread and depression.
I thought my farm would be fairly safe as there is basically zero grass around it, but, after hearing some stories and experiences of people impacted in the recent events, I'm not as sure as I was. It's unrealistic to think my neighbours / fire brigade will be able to do anything.
Thanks so much for you kind words and thoughts. It really means a lot that you take the time to support and think of Me. 🙂 ![]()
Hope your anxiety improves and you can find a little time to do some of your Diamond Paintings.
I better get moving and try to get some work done.
Thanks for your support as always @Maggie @CheerBear

Re: Taking the plunge
Hi @Gazza75 and thanks for your response. I agree with you that it is just dreadful for those who have had to evacuate, and are unable to return ... not knowing the fate of their homes and livestock etc. I hope your old work friend will be permitted back again soon.
No, I wasnt aware that you worked for an insurance company. I'm sure you would be inundated with claims over the past couple of months. A stressful time too I'd imagine, needing to deal with clients, many of whom have lost everything. And there is only so much anyone can do. How good is that ... that you are proud of the company you work for! Many others cannot say the same thing ... so I am really happy for you, that you can. It must make working there, easier when you have respect for who they are and what they are doing.
Please do not be concerned about having no specific advice for me on my PTSD thread. Knowing I can talk to you and others about my feelings is enough right now. You are always there for me and many others ... and its appreciated. I know you do not have things easy yourself either. Yeah those feelings of dread and depression getting a hold, are familiar to me. I feel them now. So I can certainly relate.
As for fires burning through bare ground ... its amazing really. I have seen fires raze through paddocks which were essentially a dust bowl before the fire came through. A fire seems able to find fuel somewhere ... maybe feeding on air until it finds something else to devour. Although bare paddocks offer some protection, you cannot afford to be complacent. Grass fires can usually be stopped, so I hope your local Volunteer Fire Brigades in the area can respond quickly to ensure they do not get into scrub or any nearby forrests. My brother is a Captain of his local rural fire brigade not far from your area. Another R name, but more a walk in the park than footy. I know he has been sending a crew to fires down Tumut way, but retaining a truck at home in case its needed. Been lucky there so far, and fingers crossed it continues. Silly question ... you are insured on the farm arent you? 😜

Just saying hello @Former-Member @Maggie @Gazza75

The area around the scottish town is special to me.

There is a fb meme encouraging tourism to effected towns later when things settle and the rebuild begins. I can get behind that kind of supportive travel that connects with the needs of the communities.

I am feeling quiet and low in words but alright. It can be good when the word flow slows down.

Hi there
We understand just how emotionally upsetting this time can be for everyone and fully appreciate the need to talk about what has happened, but please don't allude to specific locations where you or another member might live. This could compromise your anonymity.

Re: Taking the plunge
Sorry I dropped out yesterday (as I've done a few mornings now!). It's the school holiday way to be I think :face_with_rolling_eyes: Things go from 0 to 100 in a flash.
How are you doing this morning and how was your yesterday?
☕🙂

Re: Taking the plunge
@CheerBear I get that a crew member might emerge at any time. Never any need to apologise. Good to see you when you can be here.
My yesterday was awful, that’s the mild version. Grey turned black, then my thoughts weaved their magic ( not), for the rest of the day. I wish I could stop what it is I stumble on, or what throws me into chaos for apparently no reason at all.
I see my dr this pm. I have my list..lol.
How did the rest of yesterday turn out for you?
Today???
