Re: Taking the plunge
I had a shower, found something to wear and went to the shop for coffee and milk. I don't feel like doing this but will. Trying counts for something maybe. It's that or give up and I'm not ready to do that, even if it is incredibly tempting at times.
Last night I did something I haven't done before and its something you might smile at that's maybe worth sharing and remembering. I went to the movies on my own, just like you did recently. I was so, soooo sad and down and dark and miserable and thought it was a bad idea to be home alone with it. I had the whole cinema to myself. Not another person in sight. I sat curled up in the best spot against a wall with a huge popcorn and cried a lot, then laughed and sung loudly (I saw Cats and seem to be one of a very small amount who absolutely loved it), then cried some more. It was something I have often thought of doing but haven't been brave enough to do. It felt good. I then came home to my collection of cats and spent the night cuddling them (when they let me touch them :face_with_rolling_eyes:) in bed. Full cat lady style.
Thanks again for sitting with me and listening and hearing this morning. I didn't mean for it to turn messy 😑🙁
Better fly (with a colourful bird friend to carry around). I hope there's something good in your day 🌷

(that's meant to be a happy cat!)
I've probably missed you CB, but, keep your chin up. You are super amazing doing what you do here and in the big bad world. Keep on sparklin! 🙂 ![]()
Maggie, I hope you are doing okay with all the fires, smoke and drama. It's always nice to stop in here and see the support and kindness you have for everyone. You definitely have a heart of gold. ![]()

Re: Taking the plunge
You did good @CheerBear . Cats sounds amazing, as does the movie theatre on your own with popcorn and tears.
Trying counts for everything @CheerBear. I did something on Sunday. It took me hours to get the courage. I paced, I cried, and hours later I did it, with a pounding heart and fear. But I did it. And I’ll do it again, so I do know what today means.
Neither of us are ready to give up, it’s girl power. 💪💪💪💪
@Gazza75 Thankyou. You are amazing, don’t forget that.

Re: Taking the plunge
Hi @Maggie
Thanks - we do what we can and maybe just watching the news and checking on the internet and caring about it helps - I don't know - I will donate when I can - right now I am taking care of myself by staying in th house away from the smoke and not getting sick with asthma
But pray - yes - how can we know how our prayers help - I am sure they do and in unexpected ways we may never know - I have had dramatic answers to prayers at different times of my life - certainly enough to know that prayer works

Re: Taking the plunge
Hi @Zoe7
I had to think what animal pouches and wraps could be and then realised that that donation would be unique and wonderful - people may not think of such things and for the injured and homeless marsupials they would be invalubale - esp the very young ones
I would not have thought of it - I gather they are there for the comfort of animals that might still be in the pouch but have been orphaned - how lonely and scared they must be - and have no concept of how this has happened or what has happened
As they say - there is always someone worse off - I had not thought of orphaned wild-life - thanks for the shout-out Zoe

Re: Taking the plunge
Thanks for the link @Appleblossom
The picture certainly shows the more far-reaching effects of the fires -
The way the aor-currents circulate around Port Phillip Bay cause the smoke, smog and fog to accumulate there - and with the rain and other things Monday was a bleak start to the week after a weekend of chaos - likely to be affected
All these connections help - we do not need to be so isolated during times of national disaster - just caring and sharing help people
They help me

Re: Taking the plunge
@Owlunar There are many, many people around Australia sewing, knitting, crocheting pouches, bird nests, slings etc. for the rescued and homeless animals. If you checkout Animal Rescue Craft Guild or Heist Jewellery on Facebook they have all the details of what is needed, patterns and links to drop off points.
