Re: Taking the plunge

Its scary to think of study @Maggie and overwhelming but it's one of the things I need to do for a few reasons. I found a different way to get my degree. I'll lose a whole chunk of credits (I had all but 2 units of a degree 🙁) but if I keep dwelling on that and keep feeling angry and hurt and sad I'll never get there. Putting that pain and anger to the side so it stops getting in my way is a process that until now I have found impossible. Whether it will ever be possible I'm not sure, but I have to try. It'll be a psych degree which is not what I wanted to do though the end result will be the same. It's swirling around in my mind a lot so we'll see.

I can relate well to that tiredness and the giant hole of darkness you can get stuck in when the world gets turned upside down and inside out. I lived under a cloud of it for months (and then some maybe) following the big bang. I hope there's a moment/s of you being able to honour your journey through this time and the strength and perseverance you've shown and are showing. I say often that there's no other choice but when I think about where I was at recently and where I think you've been too, there is the choice to call it quits instead. That neither of us (that any of us still here today) have taken that option shows a courageous choice to keep going. It's hard to feel, see and believe that sometimes but possibly worth taking a moment to consider. It's an exhausting choice. As you say, gently ❤

I'll hold hope for big change you want with you and feel the frustration of "slow" And learning the hard way alongside you ❤

Re: Taking the plunge

I can understand the frustration of losing the credits that you would have put so much time into @CheerBear . It all seems ( and is ), unfair. But if you can find a way through the pain and anger, ( not easy), it’s worth a try. Possibility can only happen when we try.

I so believe in education. I have come from a family who didn’t see any point in educating a ( girl), me being the only ( girl )... That was one positive the convent offered me, education. It’s a way into understanding and freedom in ways. Ignorance can be a prison of its own. Another soap box. Sorry.

I was thinking recently @CheerBear that I get through because of my weakness, rather than my strength. Then reading some about strength being weakness, weakness being strength. For whatever reasons, we go on, hopefully better because of it, weaker or stronger, does it really matter? And who can judge? No one has walked in my shoes, or your shoes, maybe close by, but not in the actual footsteps. We do what we can, we go on.

I said to my counsellor recently, “ I can understand why people give up”. Her response was, “ I can’t.” That’s what I want to be, someone who doesn’t give up on people, but I have to learn not to give up on me first maybe, not sure, just a thought.

Re: Taking the plunge

Agreeing with you abou ignornc being a prison of its own.

@CheerBear

and differing attitudes about educating women.

That was the mixed blessing of the convent.

@MaggieGlad you are making creative decisions and enjoying your new home.

Hugs

Re: Taking the plunge

still safe here @Maggie some of the fire threats have eased thankfully with cooler weather and abit of rain overnight. still very nerve wracking but can breathe abit easier today knowing we aren't going to need to be evacuated at least today or tomorrow.
im aware of myaged care packages and another service they do (reduced prices for services rather then having a set package) just waiting on the assessments to happen now. @Maggie

Re: Taking the plunge

@outlander A bit of rain overnight would have been a welcome sight and sound.

Its good to know you are not in danger atm. Let’s hope the worst of these fires are behind everyone. Tragic, to say the least.

I thought you would know about the package deals. I think everyone has at least a year to wait before it all get set up and working.

You are having a lot of trouble with your teeth. It must be annoying.

We are having a nice cool day today, though our temperatures have been nothing like up your way. Many will be happy to see the end of this summer.

Re: Taking the plunge

Just waking up 🙂 Sleep in a little 🎉

Jam @Maggie - yay!!! How awesome! Have you made jam before?

My yesterday was pretty good thanks. Big had their friend over all day then went to friend's house for a sleepover. It was just Little and I here until a school mum with Little's friend walked past. They came in for a cuppa and Little's friend stayed for the night. Middle still away too. Kid juggling! I had a friend from the break place come over for a few hours during the day which was super 🙂

How are you going this morning? How's your day looking today?

Re: Taking the plunge

@CheerBear Yes, I have made jam before, but it was so long ago, I can’t even remember if it turned out ok. 😁😁

Lots of kid juggling, it must get exhausting.

Sleep in a bit at 5.30 am @CheerBear . Anything is a bonus though, even 10 minutes.

Friend from the break place hopefully was good. Can you talk about how you ‘ really’ are feeling??

I have a lady coming today to help with cleaning. It’s part of the meeting last year. Something before the package gets moving. A bit like NDIS maybe. Have to stop myself from cleaning before she comes. It’s a tough one for me, but I need the help, just find it hard, someone doing stuff for me. All feels wrong. Sigh.

Re: Taking the plunge

I made marmalade once and to my surprise it turned out too and it was yummy. Thinking about that memory while feeling that 😁😁 of your post - that's a good feeling @Maggie! Did you make enough to share with us 😉😁

I can and do talk with this friend about how I really am feeling, to an extent. Her and I clicked well and spent most of our time together. The break place takes away so many barriers that stand in the way of getting real with people (like the forum does i guess). People often see each other in all kinds of states and with the stay being weeks there's time to get to know people well. Still speaking with the he person I connected with too. The connection I'm feeling there and he told me he's feeling too is strong for the reasons above, though that connection is ultra complicated too 😏

That's a really big deal today. I remember that meeting and how tricky it was to know you needed help but to find it hard to accept that. Again, so understandable that you'd feel like that. I'd find it hard too I think. Is the person coming going to be there for long today? Maybe with time it won't feel so hard to have the help 🤞
