Re: Taking the plunge

Hey @Maggie. It's a beautiful morning here at house 2. Lots of birds, very still, not too hot. The sun has an awful orange glow though 🙁

We (the crew and I) will head home today for another couple of days after doing a breakfast thing with some new in-laws. I'm looking forward to being at home with the kids and the furballs.

How are you this morning? How's today looking for you?

Re: Taking the plunge

@CheerBear It’s overcast here, but going to be hot ish.

I guess that orange glow might be from bushfires, hopefully not close by.

Blackbirds singing here, always so lovely to wake up to

Heading home with the crew and fur balls will be a good break from ok and fine I hope.

Not sure what today holds here yet. Some cleaning for sure.

I did a bit of gardening yesterday. Put one of my plants in my front garden. I like the feel of soil in my hands.

Re: Taking the plunge

I saw a baby blackbird at home the other day and thought of you @Maggie. Super cool. Yesterday we had a couple of black cockatoos fly right by us and land in one of the trees in the yard here. They are incredible!

The fires are nowhere near where we are but the smoke is thick at house 1 and the sky is a reminder of it at house 2. Though the fires aren't close I still worry a lot about people in house 2 in summer as it's right in the middle a place that was flattened in fires a while ago and the house is at the foot of a forest. The bush is crackling now with the heat and the dry and it wouldn't take much to have it go up again. Carefully choosing when we are here and when we are not throughout the summer. I shudder with fire (as so many of us do).

Gardening sounds good yesterday. A nice grounding activity for after the cherry farm visit maybe? I too like the feel of soil in my hands.

My little just got up after a sleep in. They fell out of bed last night and woke with a big bang and tears. I didn't think much of it more than giving them a hug and having them hop in my bed for a cuddle and to sleep there through the night. This morning they have a big blue and red bump down the side of their face and eye. No wonder they were upset!

Re: Taking the plunge

Sorry i fell back asleep for abit. Makes a total of 3 hrs sleep overnight 🤦‍♀️

Im about to head to the horses to feed and fill waters (and chuck in some ice cubes) before the temps reach around 43 here. Ill be back again in the afternoon as well but not till later.
We are on possible evacuations for the horses but i seriously hope not. There are 2 very big fires burning within a 70k radius of us and im hoping it stays that way but its extremely stressful watching and waiting. If the one from the west of us comes closer we will be in big trouble as itll be hard for firefighters to put it out (we have escarpment behind us) and with a raging fire to the south and not a whole heap better to the north we are fairly surrounded. Today will be the worst for fires with the cooler weather and even some showers forecast after today so it's a matter of holding onto hope today.

The birds sound loveley to wake up to @Maggie we use to have a currowong in our backyard and it was nice to listen to of a morning.

Aww poor little @CheerBear that mustve really hurt 😞 im sure they loved and was comforted by your mum cuddles and staying with you overnight though

💕❤💛

Aww @CheerBear little falling out of bed with a bang. ❤️❤️❤️

I’m watching the fire situation atm. Oh my, how hard this is in so many ways. I do hope climate change gets taken very seriously. Nothing can change the here and now, but the future needs to be carefully considered. Yes, staying as far away as possible is wise. Stay safe.

Do black cockatoos predict rain? Something in the back of my mind is thinking that. They are great birds.

I have a paver on my table @CheerBear lol.... I’m doing mosaic on it. I’m out of tiles, so looking around for some to finish off one tile, one more to go. Not glued yet, just placed.

Re: Taking the plunge

@outlander I didn’t know you were surrounded with fires so close. That must be extremely stressful and scary. No wonder you are only managing a few hrs sleep.

Worry about the horses also. That really is awful. 💙💙💙

Looking at it on tv. Today is looking bad, but like you say, holding on to hope for rain to come soon is all anyone can do.

Stay as safe as you can @outlander . Drink plenty of water. Sending ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Re: Taking the plunge

Its scary and stressful esp since i not only have my own horsea to care for but also some clients as well.
Some are particularly challanging sometimes and thats when ita not in a panic state so it adds to the stress.
However both fires are at advice level and my fingers and toes are crossed thats the way it remains.
Ive just got home put the fan on and poured a cold drink and will watch a movie or something today @Maggie
Atm im anxious but ok for now knowing things are still under control.

Re: Taking the plunge

Anxious is very understandable @outlander. I hope you have a good movie to watch and try to relax with.

My neighbours are cutting down trees atm. I’m wondering if people are preparing here just in case it moves further around the state. I think so many are on edge now. No one saw this coming, how could they.

I’m about to hang out some washing and look online for more mosaic pavers.

Take care @outlander everything crossed for you here. ❤️❤️❤️🤞🤞🤞🤞
