Re: Taking the plunge
Morning @CheerBear @Maggie @eth
No phone or internet here this morning. Brilliant! Good thing I have some mobile data left.
I can see some blue sky today .. less smoke around. Phew. I think most of the fires nearby have been downgraded to watch and act. Only one here left at emergency level. The blanket of smoke in that direction is still intense. Cleared more soot and ash from fishpond and outdoor glass table this morning. Messy.
Gotta go now, hubby awake. Brekky .. eggs and tomato.

Oh dear @Former-Member regarding no phone or internet. 👎
Less smoke and some blue sky is looking good, or is a start to looking good.
Enjoy your eggs and tomatoes. 🍅🍳🍞I hope dinner went ok last night. 💕💕💜💜

Re: Taking the plunge
Thanks @Maggie @CheerBear @eth @outlander @Owlunar
Eth, rain is whats needed here, but nothing coming in the foreseeable future unfortunately.
Blue sky did not last long this morning, heavy grey smoke clouds moved in quickly. Doing some backburning in firegrounds in prep for what they are calling 'catastrophic' conditions on Tues. But all 4 fires around us were downgraded to 'watch and act' this morning. Wind picked up this arvo tho and one fire has breached containment lines again. Upgraded to emergency late this arvo.
Aircraft overhead all day, including the big crab-like Elvis fire fighting machine. Lots of water bombing as fire jumped another area of highway.
We still have no landline phones or internet here. Blasted NBN down as usual. From early this morning until now. I rang Telstra to ask why out and when back on. Answer .. No idea. Our mobile coverage here is intermittent at best, so its a bit worrying. Thought I could use mibile data, but thats not worked all day either. Been monitoring RFS updates as best I can, but difficult without reliable net. Apparently a transmission tower or relay station may have been burned in one of several fires. Hmmm .. they are working on it I gather. Telstra had the gall to try to offer all sorts of plans to compensate for lack of landline. But what the hell's the use of that if no reliable mobile coverage, I ask? All I want is an NBN service that works!!!!
Maggie .. dinner last night? Urghh. Food was good. Hubby drunk .. again. We have a fire evacuee staying with us from just out the road. He has two dogs and is one of hubbys drinking buddies, and ex military too. So of course he is staying here, rather than the towns evacuation centre, until permitted back to his home. Naturally they hit the bottle hard. Hubby needs no excuse nor encouragement to drink.
Its been a very draining day all round. Hope my little bit of coverage holds up long enough to post this.

Re: Taking the plunge
Oh dear. Well you do have the best excuse if you can't respond here. Thinking of you heaps, and praying we all survive this doomsdayer's 'catastrophic' week ahead. You know, I think you should go on a roadtrip far from the fires, if you can.

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope 💕
Ha ha @Former-Member you have all the great ideas! 😀💜
Umm drinking buddy brought backup grog supplies. And if beer runs out, there is scotch and wine. 😈
As far as a roadtrip is concerned .. Umm nope .. Roads blocked now, both north and south. 😕 Hey thanks for the hugz. Much needed .. yes you're right, Im feeling frazzled and stressed.
Im amazed I seem to have internet access tonight, after nothing all day. Still no NBN though. 😢 Or maybe those little wifi rays get through the night air better than day? Mystery.
Okay nite 😴
