Re: Taking the plunge
The zen shark from one of your LF made me smile @CheerBear It is amazing the way lkids minds work and what they come up with. I have an adorable picture of a fox on my fridge that one of my kids last term drew and gave to me - it makes me smile whenever I look at it. It is those little things that can both break us and give us joy ![]()
@Maggie @CheerBear I agree that the concept of failure comes from a very young age. For me it was the failure of others to protect me and that then manifested itself into having to do everything perfectly so I then did not fail myself. I know that my expectations on myself are very high and if I do not reach those heights I feel I have failed. That is something that I am still working through and making inroads into personally. A rest day would have previously been a failure to do anything whereas now it is just a rest day - that is real progress.
At a more societal level there is definitely a failure to provide adequate support for those needing housing/welfare/medical/MH support - that is not a failure on the individual but a wider issue of inadequate services to cope with the increasing demand. I do see how individually we take that on board as our failure to acquire what we need - or in fact to understand fully what we need in some instances - but having the knowledge does not always equate to success in receiving that help. @Maggie you have been extremely failed by the system and that is completely a reflection on the government and it's inadequate delivery of services you need and deserve - it is no way a failure on your part. You have been proactive in you search for housing and done everything you can to acquire that - the system has and is letting you down and in a supposedly civilised society it is not good enough. It further marginalises those that need help and the ongoing ramifications place added pressure on other systems. If we cannot house people then how do we expect them to continue to have hope that they can lead a positive and fulfilling life - and how can we not expect that ones MH will suffer substantially also as a result of that failure. When the basic needs are not met then the snowball effect is physical and mental health suffers and that places increased demand on our already broken healthcare system - one affects the other and it is not good enough in our society that this continues to be the case.

Re: Taking the plunge
Like others here @Maggie I very much know that love of our fur babies - they bring us so much joy and so much hope when we feel we have lost both. Their cuddles, licks and beautiful little faces looking at us give us a reason to keep going and they never fail to comfort us when we are struggling ...without them we do not feel whole but with them anything is possible ....hold onto that hope sweet Maggie because not only are our fur babies with us but so are we on here 💜💙💚🧡💛

Re: Taking the plunge
@CheerBear Thank you. I’m not sure why it’s knocked me around so much. It was a simple phone call, again. 😩😩 A politician’s secretary following up on the waiting to see a specialist for RA. My Dr had told me I needed to see a specialist ASAP as it’s severe. But she said non urgent when she referred me, which puts me in category 3, possibly 3 yrs waiting. The lady on the phone said to see my dr and ask her to contact the hosp specialist and upgrade my category. But.......I did, mths ago. No record of the letter. I just don’t know who to believe now. Pain levels today are high, but I’m even doubting myself.
Just another broken system with my number on it. I doubt I have a name. I will get over it, just too much all at once. We shouldn’t have to fight for pain relief and affordable housing.
Thanks for listening eyes and caring hearts.
I hope your day has been ok enough. Catch you at dawn, hopefully. ❤️💕💜💕💜❤️💕💜☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️

Re: Taking the plunge
Just read your response to @CheerBear @Maggie
It is ridiculous that you have to go through so much and there is not that help for you. As I said earlier - basic human needs should be a priority but the system as a whole is very broken. You deserve ...and should get ....so much more. I really hope that you can find some relief soon - both housing and RA - it is hard enough living with MI let alone physical ailments on top of that ...and to be still going through so many issues with housing adds so much stress and pressure onto you.
Stay in your cave as long as you need Hon - whatever helps you through today ...and we are here to listen if you need 💛🧡💚💙💜
