Re: Taking the plunge
Yes @Gazza75 I recall reading elsewhere that you no longer run stock on your property. At the last farm we were on before selling and moving up here, we had a wonderful water system. Only a relatively small water storage tank at the house. But a massive crystal clear spring fed dam up in the hills above our home. It was huge, and barely ever showed any drop in water levels. Only once that I can recall after a particularly long drought period, the springs above it dried up for a time. But due to the very large capacity of the dam, it lasted until the rains came. As it was in the hills, we set up a gravity fed system of pipes where we ran poly pipe from the base of the big dam, down through the valley, under the creek, and into our sheds, stock troughs and house. When we ran out of tank water, we could just switch over to dam water. Best boiled for drinking of course, but useable. Never made us sick anyway. We also had an outdoor shower and bathtub set up where it was available any time to shower or run a bath from that same dam water in order to conserve the tank water as much as possible. And the good thing in summer was that it came out of the black poly pipe already hot/warm enough, because the last part of the piping was above ground. Having that precious water was a lifesaver on occasion, for us and our stock. Mind you, the clothes washing suffered a little, with a bit of stain coming through the whites on occasion.
@Former-Member Yes I understand your caution in regards to your daughters illness. Being at risk of stroke is definitely a major concern. However, perhaps she is not quite as fragile as it would seem. She needs to live, after all. And a part of life is dealing with all kinds of stresses. And that includes your situation. You will not be able to shelter her from every little worry for the rest of her life ... much as you may want to, or much as is your protective instinct tells you to do. Its just simply not possible. I agree that the online chat being off line so much is a major problem. A lot of people have expressed the same view. It would be nice to think that Sane would have the resources to keep it active for more than it does. I guess funding just doesnt allow it to happen?
@Maggie You have been very quiet too these past couple of days. Hoping you're okay, and sending love and a hug.
@Zoe7 Last day of the week at work. Trust that the kids behaved and that you got everything done that you set out to do. Hopefully now you can enjoy a quieter weekend to rest and restore your energy after being so ill recently. You need a break, and fingers crossed you are able to take one. I realise you have a fathers day commitment, but hopefully thats a pleasurable occasion for you anyway.
Sherry 💕

I'm back for a little while @Former-Member . 1/2 an hour or so. Leaving early today as I have to get the train and then walk to pickup my car from the repair shop.

Re: Taking the plunge
Hi @Former-Member
It can be frustrating when we are looking for support and can't get through. For this reason it can be good to have a few alternatives to try.
It appears that the SANE chat is currently online so you might have better luck this time round.

Re: Taking the plunge
@Former-Member, that sounds like an ideal setup on your old farm. I have a 5,000 litre tank on the house 10,000 on my machinery shed. It would be better if it was the other way round, but, thats how it is. I also have another concrete tank near the house I'd like to test and start using if it still holds water.
It's suprising how warm the water can get coming through that black polypipe. I've been burn a few times from it lol 🙂

Hi @Former-Member
I'm hearing that you are really struggling there at the moment with a number of things that are certainly not your fault. Am just going to check in with you via email as I'm a bit concerned about the tone of your last post. Take care of yourself.
