Re: Taking the plunge

@Zoe7, it sounds like things worked out for the best and you are happy back home. 🙂

Do you have plans to try and travel again? I'd like to, but, I have to build up my holidays from the last year as I used up pretty much all I had. I didn't go anywhere, I just couldn't work full time. In hindsight I should of been more stubborn and not returned to work as quickly as I did. My family pressured me into it. Oh well 🙂

Hi @Former-Member,

I'm sorry to hear that things are feeling so horrible and heavy for you right now.

I just wanted to let you know that I have sent you a check-in email.

Please take care of yourself, in the best way you can!

Kindest Regards,

Amour_Et_Psyché

Re: Taking the plunge

@Former-Member, I'm doing alright. Hospital was hard, but, it puts things in perspective. I never want to go back in there so I plan being fit and as healthy as I can be. You are doing the best you can Mumi, that's all any of us can do.

Re: Taking the plunge

No - no plans to travel again @Gazza75 I am quite happy at home now with my fur babies. I have a mortgage now so can't save enough anyway - and working only 4 days just covers expenses. I don't know if I will ever get back to fulltime - certainly not in the foreseeable future anyway. I had to use all my accumulated sick leave and the majority of my long service leave when I got sick so very little of that left now. There are some places I would like to visit but being at home with my babies outweighs that desire to travel again.

Where would you like to go yourself?

Re: Taking the plunge

@Zoe7, that sounds alright to Me. I've thought about cutting back my work days a bit to have more of a work / life balance. Held out till now, but, not sure how much longer I'll be able to do it for. I also used nearly all my sick leave when I got ill. I'm pretty content at home as well to be honest.

I'd like to go to Europe, Italy, Greece, Turkey. Slovenia the UK and France. Most of my family is in the UK. I love history and would love to see all the old building and cities. Slovenia is on my list as they are all into beekeeping there 🙂

Re: Taking the plunge

I have been to Eurpoe - France, Italy, Greece, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK and Ireland @Gazza75 So many places I loved and would have gone back to when I was younger but then 'life' takes over. I spent the most time in Dublin and London - made them my base to travel to other places in Ireland and the Uk. Just fleeting visits to the other countries ...a few days at a time in some cases but got to see a lot.

Re: Taking the plunge

@Zoe7, that sounds amazing and good for you 🙂

Life does seem to take over weather we like it or not. I'm sure you have wonderful memories of your travels and adventures. Everything seems so close in Europe compared to Australia. That's a lot of countries Zoe! Did you have a favourite or stand out from them all? 🙂

Re: Taking the plunge

Ireland was my favourite but I was really surprised that I loved London as much as I did. I had only planned to stay there for 3 days before heading off to Europe but stayed 3 weeks - going back several times afterwards also. Germany and Switzerland were amazing - loved the architecture as well as natural environment (and it was getting close to winter so there was snow everywhere). Fell in love with some places in Italy - Venice and Florence were absolute standouts. Also really loved Wales - coud have seen myself living in one of the towns there ...as well as the west coast of England. It was a bit like living in Tassie - beautiful scenery and lovely people in a country atmosphere. @Gazza75 Always wanted to visit the Czech Republic but didn't get there ...ran out of money lol

Re: Taking the plunge

@Former-Memberstill with us and doing ok? 🙂

@Zoe7, that all sounds super amazing to Me. I've spent time in Japan, Hong Kong, USA and Canada. Travelled for 3 months across the USA and canada, from coast to coast basically, was meant to do a big loop back to niagara falls, but, mosquitos and bugs got the better of us and we had to scoot back to North Carolina.

One of my favourite places was Colarado and Utah. The mountains there are so high and spectacular, always have snow on them. I loved the desert and 'unreal' feel of the mesa's in the Utah. The colours and scenery was something else. I lived in the US for nearly a year. Lots of snow in various spots, got snowed in over xmas for nearly 2 weeks.

Re: Taking the plunge

America has never been on my list of places to go @Gazza75 but Canada has. I love the sound of the natural environments you describe though - sounds amazing. So many places int he world with so much beauty - I think with technology we can see so many of those places but cannot understand their full beauty that actually being there brings.

I was only gone for 3 months but jammed a lot in ...went through a life altering change as a result - that is what landed me back at uni and doing teaching - so it was all worth it.
