Re: Taking the plunge
@Former-Member
I can feel some of that intense pain...
strong unconditional love for a child..
sorry that I am not here all of the time....I have isolated myself for so long that I have even been surprised by some of the plants in the garden that have grown so much ...I watered this morning...
I am always thinking of you..
I can relate to that numbness....out of space feeling ...when we are told of a diagnosis for our child...can't possibly be....
there has been far too much pain and suffering already....this is wrong...
cry and cry ....keep up physical contact...keep on talking to her ....sit quietly with her and listen ...sit in the silence together as one...your daughter is still there....your beautiful girl..
talk nicely to yourself....be fair to yourself....like yourself....love yourself...be compassionate to yourself..no blame....no guilt ...you need your energy .....do not waste it on if only or what if....
try to live in the now....yes you will slip up as I have...that is ok too...just congratulate yourself for getting where you are now....start again...
take time to rest as much as you can to replenish your energy levels....you will get through this as ridiculous and lame as that sounds now..
no need to write to anyone about their struggles on here....not one person on here expects that of you...
we are all concerned for you..
this is all about you and your daughter... @Former-Member put it so beautifully...
stay safe and warmest wishes to you and your daughter

Re: Taking the plunge
Oh sweet @Former-Member - my heart goes out to you. What was your daughter's diagnosis? Your mind must be reeling in shock and exhaustion at the moment. Yes, life can certainly throw curveballs. Allow yourself a good cry and some quiet time to allow your mind to adjust. Then it's only one day at a time for now...
And we will walk this road with you my friend one day at a time. Is your daughter under the care of a specialist at the hospital? Here for you when you are ready. Sending a warm hug 🌹xxx

Re: Taking the plunge
Hi @Maggie
How are you today? Has your dizziness and weakness settled abit?
I did go to the beach this morning for a walk and felt much better. Just beat the downpour of rain - the heavens opened up just before we got back into the car. It's still raining and overcast and the temperature dropped to a cool 19 degrees. Am loving listening to the rain fall and the peace and quiet. Not having to rush around at the moment. Bliss. I do enjoy days like these. I managed to sleep well last night and that makes all the difference to my day. I also managed to find a good movie to watch on TV - the storyline was very uplifting. A nice day.
I am now off to cross stitch for a bit, then will have to think about what to cook for dinner tonight. Wish days like this wouldn't end. Tomorrow my daughter is coming over before work and then I will pop over and see a friend. Hope all is going okaish for you today. Thinking of you and holding you close to my heart 💕🌹xx
Below is a pic of my early morning beachwalk.

Re: Taking the plunge
I don't remember what I've written though.
Days are a blurr.
I wrote things during last night, as it was too noisy to sleep in hospital.
Can't remember what I wrote. Will re read now.

Still recovering from it all.

Re: Taking the plunge
Dear @Maggie
I agree with what you said on Friday about us trying hard all the time to be good. Yes, good wives, mothers, aunts, sisters, grandmothers, employees, volunteers, carers, etc. And by the time we satisfy all the needs in that area, there really isnt much left for US. I'm glad your counsellor is such an obviously good and sensible lady when it comes to self care. She sets a great example to others by demonstrating the well known rule that you must first look after yourself, before you are any good to others. Everything you said on Friday to @Former-Member makes perfect sense. You need have no concerns about your way with words, you get the message across very well.
Sorry to hear that you are still feeling very weak, hopefully you can gradually regain your strength. Impatience can at times be beneficial I believe, but when taken too far it can be self destructive, and thus needs to be tempered.
I think its been very cold in your part of the world the past few days, even with snow falling. Its much cooler here today as well, a welcome change in fact.
Hubby was discharged from hospital yesterday afternoon, despite his Dr suggesting he'd like to see him remain there at least until Monday. But it wasnt to be, he insisted he'd be just fine at home. The Dr asked me what I thought about how he'll cope at home and, with hubby glaring angrily at me, I said it was entirely up to hubby. So far we are coping.
I hope you are feeling better today Maggie, as I know you've had a couple of really bad days. I'm thinking of you and sending you lots of love and kind thoughts. And a pat for Maggie-May.
