@Former-Member - I just saw your post I the Worry Room and I wanted to say I'm saddened & dissapointed with how you've been treated. You do matter so much, to me, to others. Unfortunately, we can't control how others respond to us, and although they are health professionals, they're also very human, with their own issues, stresses and vulnerabilities. These things impact how they respond to us. That's certainly not making excuses for them, nor accepting their treatment of us. You know how much poor treatment I've had from health professionals. And I've often thought the same thing as you. Do I need to do something serious for people to notice me? And I have done those things, even to the point of further SH in the emergency waiting room to ensure that I would be taken seriously.

But my experiences have made me more assertive with health professionals. I've sometimes challenged mh professionals over things they've said or done. I've obviously not always won, but at least felt better expressing my needs.

Don't let these people fk with your self worth Nell. You are better than this. You mean so much more than their words. You have a reason to be here, you have a purpose to be undertaken. You can and will get through this hellish. You won't always hurt the way you do now. You won't always feel guilt and shame. Life eventually will improve in time.
