The Community Garden :)

The Community Garden :)

Being outside and enjoying the beautiful plants and flowers that are about is definitely something that's keeping me going at the moment, so I thought it might be nice to grow our own garden here where we can all enjoy it.

Please add any pictures, links, chats about anything you're enjoying in your garden, have found on a walk, wish you had in your garden etc. Or just enjoy wandering around 🙂

Re: The Community Garden :)

Another use for mint is as mint sauce for roast lamb.
Bruise a handful of leaves with a teaspoon of sugar. Pour in half cup of boiling water and stir.

Woohoo with that lemongrass @Shaz51.

@Former-Member Mint is great in Vietnamese cold rolls. It was one of the foods all four of my boys loved. I’d just serve up lots of ingredients (bbq chicken, carrot straws, cucumber, bean sprouts and lots of herbs) and they’d make their own. Salad is something else I use. Go green thumb 👍. I can’t grow dill to save myself in summer but it grows like mad in spring here.

Parsley likes a lot of water @Shaz51

Re: The Community Garden :)

Mine went to seed @Shaz51. Missing it. I also lost my oregano this summer, New one is struggling a bit too. My lemongrass looks like yours as far as size goes but with lots of brown leaves amongst the green ones 😜.

Re: The Community Garden :)

how do you use your lemongrass @Teej xx'

I think my parsley got too much water @Catcakes, I had it in a pot outside -- big mistake i think

Re: The Community Garden :)

I don’t use it nearly enough @Shaz51 but mostly in Thai stir fry dishes. I think I might look up other ways to use it. Will let you know if I find anything of interest.

Yummo! @Catcakes 🙂

Both suggestions sound lovely and I am low on mint sauce so that could be a very good sue of my mint. You guys are awesome- so helpful - thank you 🙂

@Teej I love those Vietnamese rolls, but again have never though of creating myself. I always just buy them Another new recipe for the list.

It amazes me how some things grow great and then you try and re create it and it just goes belly up. My parents try to convince me that gardening is easy but I'm not so sure

Re: The Community Garden :)

Oh that’s a shame @Shaz51 😔<br>I have two pots of parsley outside. Different climate I suppose. Being waterlogged might finish it. We eat a lot of parsley so I always have a couple of clumps.
