The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Following on from the outstanding success of "The Great Yoga Adventure Thread", here begins one that may appeal to a larger sector of the Sane Forum population. Although I have started it in the Lived Experience side, anyone is welcome to join us as we put one foot in front of the other and walk to improve our mental and physical wellbeing.

I hope you will accompany me. Here we can talk about how, when, where and why we walk. It's a place to discuss our progress and share what we see along the way.

Walking is my thing. I love it. I do it in several ways. During the weekdays, I get up early and take a brisk walk usually stopping in along the way at the supermarket to pick up some groceries. Around mid morning, I take my dog for a stroll. Then late afternoon, I walk to and from a yoga session. Lastly, at night, it's another walk for the pooch.

On weekends, I like to go a bit further afield and discover new stuff. I often take photos as well during these walks.

I use an App on my phone called Pacer which monitors the distance and steps that I walk. I do a minimum of 10 000 steps each day. Some of you may be more high tech and have a Fitbit or equivalent.

Re: The Walking for Wellbeing Thread

Top marks for @Sans911 @Determined for stepping out and getting some exercise. I took my dog for an earlier afternoon walk instead of her usual late afternoon/night walk. She was sooooooo sloooooow. I have an extenda lead and she was often the full five metres behind me.

She much prefers the later time slot. I think she's keen to spot a possum or cat that is out and about.

Step count for me today is just under 15000. My record was 30 826 on 2 July this year.

I walked approximately 2kms today, out on the buses again, keeping two medical appointments, including a longish walk around a hospital, and other side stops along the way. Didn't make it to the beach. Hoping for that tomorrow. Keep on keeping on fellow walkers.

Those steps walking around hospitals can add up @Mazarita.

Hey @TAB - come over here and tell us about your walking efforts.

Morning @soul ..... 🤗💕

Coffee-shopping here, so that's 1.6km so far .... the same it will be to go back home ..... then there is the incidental run-around across the day. We have a long house, so there's a lot of up and down and back and forth in a day just being at home.
